Cheryl Tiegs Issues Official Apology To Ashley Graham for ‘Full Figure’ Criticism About Her ‘SI’ Cover

Cheryl Tiegs has really upset a lot of people with her comments about Ashley Graham appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated. A lot of people have wondered if Tiegs issued an apology or not, and now Cheryl has officially apologized to Ashley for her comments, but it could just be a little too late. E! Online shared the details of what happened and Cheryl Tiegs’ apology. Just last week, Cheryl revealed that she wasn’t happy that the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue had a “full-figured” woman on the cover. Cheryl even said that a woman should have a waist that is smaller than 35 inches.

Cheryl Tiegs didn’t stop there, though. She did say that Ashley Graham had a pretty face, but she didn’t think that putting a woman that size on the cover was “healthy in the long run.” Of course, Ashley Graham was not happy about what Cheryl Tiegs had to say about her. Graham later responded to the comments from Tiegs.

“But what’s great is that—the fact that she said it—it means that other women think like her. And what that means is that we really need to change the industry. There are too many people thinking they can look at a girl my size and say that we are unhealthy. You can’t, only my doctor can.”

Of course, Ashley Graham is not the only one upset with Cheryl Tiegs’ comments, and a lot of people don’t agree with it. Tiegs started out by going to her Twitter account and trying to apologize, but it just didn’t come out right, and she later deleted the tweet that said, “To clarify re bodyweight. Being anorexic/bulimic/overweight all connected to health problems. I want all to be as healthy as they can.”

This wasn’t enough either, so Cheryl Tiegs has finally issued an apology to Ashley Graham. It is unknown if Tiegs has reached out to Graham, but she did go to the Huffington Post today and post an actual apology to Ashley. Tiegs says that this has turned into a “manufactured media feud” and then went on to apologize to Ashley.

“I was not equating beauty to weight or size, but unfortunately that is what the media reported in headlines. I was trying to express my concern over media images and the lack of education in America about healthy choices, thus the reference to the 35-inch waist as a guideline to health. I did hear that on Dr. Oz, but it’s also stated on websites such as The Center For Disease Control, Harvard University and The American Diabetes Association.”

After that, Cheryl Tiegs even went on to reveal that her waist is 37 inches and not under 35 inches either. Cheryl even went on basically begging Ashley to accept her big apology.

“Please accept my deepest apology if you were offended or in any way think I was referring to you. I commend you on the positive influence you have on helping women to love themselves.”

Everyone can’t wait to hear what Ashley Graham has to say about the big apology she just got from Cheryl Tiegs. Do you think that she will respond or just let it go? This feud might finally be coming to an end.
