Gwen Stefani & Christina Aguilera Team Up On ‘The Voice’ Season 10? ‘Girl Power!’

Are Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera planning to team up against Blake Shelton on the upcoming 10th season of The Voice? According to a recent interview with Aguilera, the answer may be “Yes!”

While there have been rumors swirling regarding a possible feud between the two women, those rumors appear to be false. Aguilera recently expressed interest in joining forces with Gwen Stefani on the NBC singing competition and taking on their male co-stars, including Gwen Stefani’s boyfriend, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Pharrell Williams.

“When [Gwen Stefani] came on, I remember telling her… it was at, I think, Zuma’s birthday party. I was like, ‘Just do me one favor when you go in.’ I think was, like, eight months pregnant… I was like, ‘Please, like, give the boys hell. Break the girl curse.’ And it still hasn’t been done yet, so I’m really… I know she’s rooting me on to come try and fix that,” Aguilera told a group of reporters on February 29, including Hollywood Life.

But Shelton didn’t seem convinced, and laughed, “Oh, I’m sure she is.”

“She’ll be around,” Aguilera continued. “She’ll be around, I’m sure. I’m going to get [Gwen Stefani] to take my side against all you guys. Girl power.”

Gwen Stefani began appearing on The Voice as a coach during Season 7. Since then, she and Aguilera have been appearing as judges every other season, leaving Aguilera in charge of the role during the upcoming Season 10. However, while Gwen Stefani will not be featured as a coach, she will be seen on Season 10 in a mentor role for Team Shelton, which makes Aguilera’s comments even more surprising. Because Gwen Stefani will be working alongside her real-life boyfriend, her support will likely lie with him.

In December of last year, just one month after Gwen Stefani and Shelton revealed they were dating, rumors of her potential return to The Voice as a coach for Season 10 began to swirl. While fans can now expect to see just four judges as they have in the past, a fifth spot was rumored to be talked about. As a result, Aguilera reportedly threw a fit.

“Christina said that it was her show and gave a really big spiel about how she thinks that [Gwen Stefani] used this Blake thing to try and stay on the show,” a production source told Radar Online. “Now people are dreading her return.”

At the time, it was believed that due to the increase in ratings after Gwen Stefani’s romance reveal, producers were hoping to maximize on viewership by keeping her around and showing more of her and Shelton’s flirtations on the show. Still, the source claimed bigwigs at NBC were not considering making any major changes to the format.

“They have been switching the female judges on and off for over three seasons now and it has nothing to do with how well [Gwen Stefani] is performing” or what Aguilera wants, the source explained. “It has more to do with just keeping it different by changing it up. As of right now, there are no plans to make it five judges.”

To see more of Gwen Stefani, as well as her relationship with Aguilera and her romance with Shelton, be sure to tune into The Voice Season 10, premiering on NBC tonight, February 29, at 8 p.m.
