Ben Affleck went on Jimmy Kimmel Live for the host’s 11th Annual After the Oscars special. This is the first public appearance Affleck has made since his estranged wife Jennifer Garner’s revealing Vanity Fair article was released.
In the interview, Garner was frank about the heartbreak she’s experienced post-split from her husband of 10 years. Affleck, who attended the Oscar special to promote his upcoming film Batman v Superman, seemed to escape questions about his impending divorce from the Alias actress. Instead, Ben brought along his best friend and frequent collaborator Matt Damon on Jimmy Kimmel Live for two hilarious bits.
Affleck, poking fun at his post-muscle weight gain, walked out onto the stage with a ballooned figure and an oversized suit. Kimmel immediately pointed it out by saying that he hated to put him on the spot, but he “ballooned” up.
Ben responded by saying, “Thanks, I didn’t think this was about body-shaming tonight.”
Before Affleck could say anything else, Kimmel noticed his “extra weight” was moving and ripped Affleck’s tuxedo apart to reveal Matt Damon strapped to Affleck’s chest.
Kimmel and Damon then went into their ongoing bit of having a bitter feud with each other. For years, Damon and Kimmel “have been at odds” with each other. It goes back to when Kimmel was dating Sarah Silverman. The comedian debuted a song called “I’m F**king Matt Damon,” which Kimmel then responded with a song of his own, “I’m F**king Ben Affleck,” featuring Affleck and various stars.
The “feud” only escalated from there as Damon has tried to get on Kimmel’s show numerous times but has been “stopped.” During another show, Matt crashed Kimmel’s set and took over, hosting his own Jimmy Kimmel Live, with the help of a few of his famous friends, including Affleck. In a separate post-Oscars special, Damon highjacked Kimmel’s “Handsome Club” sketch. In a different show, they even showed Jimmy and Matt going through therapy to mend their differences.

Finally, since Ben Affleck is “so close” with Kimmel, he decided to act as a mediator during last night’s After the Oscars special while Damon relished getting a chance to sit in Kimmel’s chair for additional guests. That said, to the dismay of the crowd, which Kimmel accused of “turning on him,” Damon was kicked out of the studio once again.

This isn’t the only time Ben and Matt caught up with each other. Reports circulated that Affleck attended WME’s pre-Oscar bash. While witnesses said Ben didn’t look like he was in the mood to party, an onlooker noted that he and Damon shared a long embrace and looked excited to catch up again. Although the two live down the block from each other, Damon has been busy filming the next Bourne installment. Throughout the months following the news of Affleck’s divorce, it’s said that Damon has been by his side and has been a supportive friend.
In Jennifer Garner’s Vanity Fair article, no subject seemed to be off-limits, as she tackled questions about her split and the nanny scandal. In the interview, she said that the nanny thing was months after they decided to divorce and that she wasn’t involved in the equation when it came to divorce.
Of Affleck, she said, “I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him. And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again. You can’t have these three babies and so much of what we had. He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that?”
Ben Affleck’s movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 24.
