Zac Efron may not have filmed any scenes that show him running across the sand in slow motion just yet, but he is still well and truly in character in his new lifeguard role for the highly anticipated Baywatch movie.
The Daily Mail reported that Zac Efron, who is starring in the new Baywatch film alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, started work last Monday on the new movie reboot. The Baywatch reboot movie is the latest in a long series of classic movies and TV shows that are being rebooted or continued in the form of a sequel, and this one in particular has been hotly anticipated.
Zac Efron and The Rock was spotted wearing board shorts and zipper tops and being tended to by a makeup artist who was busy getting them ready to shoot scenes in Boca Raton, Florida. These particular scenes were shot on a boat just off a jetty, so fans have yet to witness Zac Efron filming scenes in the beach sand, as made famous by David Hasselhoff in the 1990s television series of the same name.
All that is known of the boat scene so far is that Zac Efron and his co-star took turns looking through binoculars.
But a few days ago, Zac Efron’s co-star gave another clue via his Instagram account.
“The greatest of cinematic teams always start off with conflict – which is why my character can’t stand this pr*ck. And he hates me too. But we share one common goal: Protect the Bay.”
So it seems that Zac Efron and his co-star start out the film disliking each other, but they must learn to work together in order to “protect the Bay.”
The Daily Mail reported that Zac Efron has been doing what he needs to do to bulk up so that his six-pack would be on full display for his new role. Even though Zac Efron already had an impressively muscular body, it is understandable that he would want to make sure he is in pristine condition, given that his co-star is a former WWE celebrity.
For his part, The Rock has been keeping his fans informed of his bulking up process by posting videos on Instagram, and the results of his hard work were not difficult to spot.
“Workin’ extremely hard for these film roles and an ambitious 12months straight of shooting. BAYWATCH (currently filming) then FAST & FURIOUS 8, then the big one, RAMPAGE.”
In fact, the Daily Mail reports that Zac Efron has been so hard at work bulking up for his new role that the veins in his arms were bulging and on full display when he was spotted at a Miami airport last Sunday. It was reported that a makeup artist on the set of Baywatch had to apply makeup in order to make his veins look less prominent prior to shooting the first scenes.
And while Zac Efron’s co-star has revealed that after filming Baywatch, followed by Fast & Furious 8 and then followed by Rampage, Zac himself is also busy on another film that is soon to be released. Cosmopolitan reports that Zac Efron will star with Adam Devine in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, the film adaptation of the famous book. The book and film follow the Stangle brothers, who post an online ad looking for wedding dates for their sister’s wedding. Their chosen dates, played by Anna Kendrick and Audrey Plaza, turn their worlds upside down by turning out to be disasters just waiting to happen.

Several posters for the film have been released so far, each showing Zac Efron and his co-star Robert De Niro, as reported by Just Jared. The film co-stars Zoey Deutch, Julianne Hough, and Aubrey Plaza — yes, the same Aubrey Plaza who also stars with Zac Efron in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.
