One Direction’s Harry Styles Trims His Hair: Dear Lord Is This What It’s Come To?

Harry Styles has had a haircut.

“So what?” I hear you shout.

It seems that the fact that One Direction star Harry has had a little trim is now the stuff of tabloid headlines. Is this the type of reporting that fans of Harry and One Direction are going to be subjected to on a daily basis for the next 18-months or more? As every fan of Styles and One Direction is all too painfully aware, Harry and his pals Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne are set to take a break from One Direction starting next month.

In truth, Styles and the rest of the guys have not done much as a group since the beginning of December, when they completed the promotional tour for Made In The A.M., One Direction’s fifth album. Since then, Styles has featured in two fairly big stories, first the fake romance with Kendall Jenner, then the fact that Harry has ditched One Direction’s management and PR teams for his solo work.

Other than those stories, Styles has become the invisible man. As a result of his keeping a low profile, we have seen a virtual avalanche of ridiculously inane gossip about Harry. Many of Styles’ fans have been somewhat tickled by the fact that some sections of the media have begun to concentrate on what Harry did not do. It was reported in The Inquisitr yesterday that Styles made headlines because he did not attend the Brit Awards.

Admittedly, Harry and his outrageous suits were missed at the awards, especially as One Direction picked up yet another award, this time for their video for the hit single “Drag Me Down.” It was left to Styles’ bandmates Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne to accept the award on behalf of the band. Of course Harry’s absence from the awards disappointed the many fans who had gathered hoping to see all of the One Direction boys together before they head off on their hiatus.

U.K. tabloid The Sun rarely misses the opportunity to print a negative headline about One Direction, and on this occasion the paper claimed that “Harry Styles snubbed his bandmates” by failing to attend the bash. Bizarrely, the same article mentions that Niall Horan is currently in Thailand and would not be attending the Brits either, and yet there was no suggestion that he had snubbed anyone. Many One Direction fans believe that Harry is under orders from his new management team to keep a low profile until the band hiatus officially begins. Considering that Harry did not attend the Brits, he was obviously following proceedings closely, as he posted an Instagram message thanking fans just moments after it was announced that they had won an award. Oddly for Styles, he posted in color, something he rarely does.

As was reported in Inquisitr the Sun’shead of showbiz, Dan Wootton, is closely linked with Simon Cowell and One Direction’s management team. Since Styles sacked that team it, seems that the knives have been out for him in media outlets, where Cowell has influence.

In the absence of any real news about Harry, we are now being reduced to reading about whether or not Styles has trimmed his locks. Firstly we saw reports that hairdresser Jason Schneidman posted and removed a picture of Harry in which he said he had trimmed Harry’s locks.

Now Cosmopolitan says that “everyone has to stop what they are doing” because Harry had a little trim. The fact that Harry “kept his length and curls and just opted for a little trim” is making headlines is frankly pathetic.

Sadly Cosmo were not alone in reporting on Harry’s haircut. Sugarscape reports that “Harry Styles has gone for a trim, and the world has essentially stopped spinning on its axis.” We all know that Harry has lovely hair, but do we really need to be subjected to claims that the world stopped spinning on its axis because Styles had a few split ends removed?

If this is the shape of things to come during One Direction’s hiatus, Harry Styles fans are in for a very long 18-months.
