One Direction Star Harry Styles Making Headlines For What He Didn’t Do Again

Harry Styles is rarely out of the headlines, even when he does nothing. One Direction star Harry is the darling of the gossip columns, and rarely a day passes without Styles being the subject of a headline or two. Even with One Direction’s hiatus about to begin, it seems that Harry and his bandmates will not get any respite from the constant press attention they have attracted over the past five years.

Styles will acknowledge that press coverage is an essential element in keeping an artist in the public consciousness, but Harry and his pals would prefer the chatter to be about their music. Sadly, Harry has doubtless have come to realize that, as a member of One Direction, at least some sections of the media will run stories about just about anything except for their music. As reported in the Inquisitr recently, we now seem to have reached the stage where what Harry Styles didn’t do has become big news.

The Mirror recently reported that Harry did not spend Valentine’s Day with Kendall Jenner, though of course this will have been absolutely no surprise to Styles’ fans, who pegged the rumor of Harry and Kendall dating as a PR stunt from the beginning. Yesterday, the Sun took to crystal ball gazing to predict (correctly, as it happened) that Styles was not attending last night’s Brit Awards, despite being in London.

Of course, Styles fans were hoping that Harry and bandmate Niall Horan would surprise everyone by joining Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne at the Brit’s. Fans were, of course, hoping that One Direction might join the lineup of stars who played at the event, as it was one of the last big occasions where the boys could perform together before their break begins next month. In the end, fans were to be disappointed, as neither Niall nor Harry showed in the end, despite the fact that Styles is believed to be in London and One Direction were in the running for several awards.

Heat magazine reports that Styles “snubbed his One Direction bandmates” by failing to attend the Brits. The grammar police may well be after that headline writer. “Snub” is a verb that means to rebuff, ignore, or spurn disdainfully, it requires an action, so Harry could not have snubbed someone simply by not being at an event.

There is no doubt that fans of Styles and One Direction really wanted to see Harry and the rest of the boys together at the awards. Styles and Horan’s absence was sorely missed by fans who are concerned that their favorites are drifting apart. As One Direction’s hiatus begins and Harry begins to release his solo material, fans will understandably be nervous as to what the future holds for the band.

It is widely known that Styles has sacked Modest Management and HJPR, and fans are hoping that the rest of One Direction will follow in his footsteps by signing with the Azoff organization. Seeing Harry together with the rest of the team would have been a boost for the fans.

It says much about Harry when one of the biggest stories to come out of the Brit’s is the fact that Styles did not attend. In the event, Styles missed out on being handed the Brit Award for the best video of the year for their single, “Drag Me Down.” This is the third year in a row that One Direction have won that award, following up on the success of “Best Song Ever” and “You And I.” Whilst Harry didn’t attend the show, he did take to social media to thank fans for voting for them to win the award.

There can be no doubt that Harry Styles was missed by both his bandmates and his fans last night. Fans will want to see Harry and the rest of the boys together before their hiatus begins. They will also want to see Harry making headlines for what he does, not for what he doesn’t do.
