Anna Duggar Returning To TLC In ‘Jill & Jessa: Counting On’: What About Josh Duggar? [Video]

Rumors of a spin-off of 19 Kids & Counting are true, and, although the series will star Jill and Jessa Duggar, it seems Anna Duggar will be back on air, too. For months, the Duggar family has denied rumors that they will return to TLC airwaves, taking to their blog on February 6 to condemn the media for starting “many untrue (and also hurtful) rumors.” But in a statement released by TLC, the famous family will be back on air soon in a brand new series.

In the statement, TLC revealed that the new series will focus on Jessa and Ben Seewald as they adjust to parenthood, while Jill, Derick, and Israel Dillard will continue their mission work in Central America.

Us Weekly magazine confirmed that Anna Duggar will star on the new series alongside her sisters-in-law, including Jessa, Jill, Jana, and Jinger, as well as some of Anna Duggar’s male in-laws. Although Anna Duggar’s husband, Josh Duggar, is central to the disaster that struck the reality stars last year, she will still appear on the new series as a central story line. In the new series, according to the Duggar family blog, Anna will join the Duggar sisters “for a much needed vacation” in one episode.

According to TLC, however, Josh Duggar will not be back on air any time soon, although, since he’s married to Anna and the pair share four children together, fans aren’t really buying it.

In the three part series Jill & Jessa: Counting On that TLC aired last year, Anna and her struggle was a central plot. The series caught up with Anna, Jill, and Jessa as they weathered the scandals and began new lives as wives and mothers. The series followed Jessa as she had her baby and Jill as she began missionary work in Central America. The series did so well, premiering to several million viewers, that it sparked rumors that it was just a matter of time before the Duggar family returned to living rooms everywhere.

Anna, looking weary in the three part series, clearly has struggled with her situation since learning her husband cheated on her and admitted to a pornography addiction. Josh has been in a faith-based rehab in Illinois since last fall, although Anna has visited him to start what she calls a “a long difficult road” of recovery. In a statement on the Duggar family blog, Anna confirmed she has no plans to divorce Josh, citing that her faith will not allow her to leave her husband.

19 Kids & Counting was summarily cancelled last year after news broke that Josh Duggar, who is married to Anna, molested several young girls when he was a teenager. Fans were horrified that the family kept the secret hidden, and the Duggar family, along with Anna who has admitted to crying many tears over the scandals, has been trying to recover since.

According to a statement released by Discovery Communications, the network lost over $19 million after cancelling 19 Kids & Counting, the network’s most-watched show, last year. Last January, TLC’s executive vice president and general manager Nancy Daniels said the high ratings of the three-part Jill & Jessa: Counting On means that their audience “still cares” about the Duggar family. The network executive also said TLC, at the time, was “still talking and considering” a full season of a show about the Duggar sisters.

A trailer for the new series has been released. In the promotional video, Jessa Duggar says that she, Jill, Anna, and the rest of her family have “shared this journey with the world,” adding that “family is everything.”
