Eva Longoria Hilariously Performs The Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’ [Video]

Eva Longoria is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of the Spice Girl’s pop megahit “Wannabe” in a hilarious new video for Mashable.

Mashable posted Eva’s unique version of the 1996 smash on Facebook on February 22, where Longoria, who’s currently starring in the popular NBC comedy Telenovela, channels her inner telenovela star for a dramatic reading of the song’s lyrics.

In the new video, which clocks in at just over one minute and 30 seconds, Longoria jokingly admits that she’s an “actress, producer, activist and aspiring spice girl” before revealing that this year marks the “20th anniversary of [the Spice Girls’] debut album, Spice.”

“So it’s my pleasure to perform for you the lyrics of ‘Wannabe,'” Longoria continues in the clip, before launching into the track in the style of a very over the top dramatic soap opera.

The viral video caused quite a stir online, with a number of Eva Longoria – and Spice Girls – fans taking to social media to spread the love for Eva’s (very!) unique take on the 90s hit.

“Eva Longoria performing Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’ is really helping me get through the day,” Twitter user @RyanJohnNelson wrote on the 140-character site, while @Leila_EvilRegal wrote, “@EvaLongoria You’re the BEST! You just killed me with this video, it’s so hilarious. I love you!”

“Omg @EvaLongoria reciting Spice Girls ‘Wannabe’ in Telenovela form is HILARIOUS,” social media user @moraly92 tweeted, while @lloysgang wrote to Eva, “@EvaLongoria I saw your video singing Spice Girls’s song, you’re hilarious Eva.”

“Here’s an excellent way to start Wednesday – ‘Aspiring Spice Girl’, Eva Longoria performs Wannabe, telenovela style,” @_aaronhussy tweeted out.

While the Spice Girls – made up of Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel C, and Mel B – have so far stayed mum regarding Longoria’s take on their debut single on social media, we’re guessing the world-famous girl band will probably love Eva’s video as much as we do thanks to her close friendship with Victoria.

Eva even joked back in May that she was “the new Spice Girl” when she snapped a photo with the girls, minus Mel B, at David Beckham’s 40th birthday party.

Victoria also posted a shot of herself enjoying her time with Eva and the girls, captioning her Instagram photo, “Amazing evening with my girls last night x vb #DB40 @evalongoria @melaniecmusic @denisevasi @tanaramsay.”

Longoria and Beckham have certainly made no secret of their close friendship in the past, with Eva most recently gushing over her fashion forward friend in an interview with the Daily Mail in July 2015.

“We’re best friends and have shares lots of life lessons together,” Eva told the site of the former Spice Girl last year, where she also joked that she often finds herself competing with David and Victoria’s son, Brooklyn, on social media.

“I’ve seen Brooklyn grow up so I was very upset that he beat me to a million followers on Instagram,” Eva joked to the Daily Mail last year. “He got there first. He’s very proud of that. We’re always joking on Instagram.”

Longoria previously spoke out about her close friendship with the fashion designer and her family with the Daily Express in 2012, where she confessed that the two keep it real when they’re together.

“When we hang out, we just stay home and talk, eat and laugh,” Eva Longoria said of the two’s longstanding friendship.
