Ronda Rousey Wants A ‘Metroid’ Movie And She Wants To Play Samus

Ronda Rousey is pretty busy with everything else she currently has going on, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t always willing to take on more projects. Currently, the UFC fighter is training for another fight and putting together deals for other films. Believe it or not, she actually has plenty of ideas for other things she would like to do, and one is to play the lead role of Samus Aran in a Metroid movie if Nintendo was ever to make one.

The former UFC Bantamweight champion is going to be on the cover of the video game EA Sports UFC 2, but she’s a big-time player too. She loves video games and has long enjoyed games across every system imaginable.

She recently did an interview with Gamespot where she talked about doing the mocap suit work for UFC 2 and a number of other things. She has done work in Fast and Furious 7 and The Expendables 3, and she’s currently working on a remake of Roadhoouse, but there is much more.

When she found out that a movie based on the hit game Warcraft was being made, she wished she would have been able to be in it. Unfortunately, the film had already started shooting and she can’t be a part of it, but she does know what video game movie she would want to star in.

“I’ve always wanted to be Samus. That would be bada**. I love how people found out later that it was a hot chick on the inside. And then most of the day you’re in a suit, so you can just hang out and eat donuts and be the star of Metroid. I hope they make a movie out of that.”

While Samus Aran has been around for decades and is easily one of the most recognizable and popular Nintendo icons, a movie has not yet really been talked about. Numerous games in the franchise have been released across all Nintendo systems, but the movie just hasn’t become a reality as of yet.

The original Metroid game was released in August of 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It involves the main character of Samus Aran who is in a space suit, complete with helmet, and must traverse the planet of Zebes to stop Space Pirates and the evil Mother Brain.

For those who have played the game, assumptions are made from the very beginning that Samus is a man, but at the end, the truth is revealed when Samus takes off the suit.

It’s not only one of the first, but also one of the most shocking revelations in all of video game history. Samus Aran taking off the suit and revealing to be a female isn’t so much shocking as to thinking a woman couldn’t fight aliens, but no one saw it coming.

Ronda Rousey has loved being in films so far, but she has been featured quite often in a fighting roles. To her, she actually has to remember how fighting in a movie can be quite different from doing battle in the octagon.

“A lot of things come naturally. There are certain things I have to, like, keep in mind when shooting for a movie and that’s defense. Nobody has any defense in movies because when you have defense you cover your face, and that was my main problem — covering my face.”

It’s not really known if Nintendo will ever take the Metroid franchise and take it from video game to the big screen in movie form. If they do, then it’s really easy to figure out who can take on the lead role of Samus Aran, as Ronda Rousey wants it and is perfect for it.
