Kris Jenner Booed Off Stage At iHeart Radio Concert; Is The World Finally Sick Of The Kardashians? [Video]

After a disastrous public appearance this weekend, Kris Jenner might be wondering if her proverbial “15 minutes of fame” has finally run its course. The Kardashian family matriarch was on hand at an iHeart Radio concert in Inglewood, California, on Saturday night and she took to the stage to introduce Culture Club, one of a handful of iconic 1980s acts performing at the event. As reported by the Daily Mail, the Los Angeles crowd quickly reacted to Kris Jenner’s presence with disdain, showering her with boos and jeers. The din became so loud that Jenner’s voice became quickly inaudible, despite efforts by organizers to increase the volume on Jenner’s microphone.

According to the Huffington Post, an unidentified voice was heard trying to quiet the unruly crowd via the venue’s sound system at one point. But the collective ill will did not subside until Culture Club finally took the stage.

The incident was recorded by at least once concertgoer who posted video online. Photographers were also present, snapping pictures of Jenner as she struggled through the embarrassing moment. After her announcement, Jenner appeared to turn her back on the 17,000 strong anti-Kris contingent.

An account by Yahoo Music recalls that Kris Jenner and Culture Club frontman Boy George are old friends, also noting that Jenner’s ex Caitlyn Jenner introduced the band at a show in Los Angeles last year. The crowd at that event received Caitlyn well that night.

The 60-year-old mainstay of Keeping Up With The Kardashians appeared to take her public shame in stride, later posing backstage for a photo with Boy George and Rihanna. Although she did not publicly discuss the incident, Boy George reached out to Kris via Twitter, offering words of thanks for her support.

iHeart Radio also reacted via Twitter, implicitly expressing surprise at the reception received by one of their biggest celebrity guests.

It’s difficult to know whether or not Americans’ affection for the Kardashian-West clan is finally running its course, but a number of public controversies and missteps have certainly rubbed a number of star watchers the wrong way in the recent past.

Kanye West, the husband of Kim Kardashian, was secretly recorded in the midst of a profanity-laden backstage rant during his last appearance at Saturday Night Live. As noted by Page Six, West called Grammy award winning singer Taylor Swift a “fake ass” and declared that he is “50 percent more influential” than the likes of director Stanley Kubrick, artist Pablo Picasso, Biblical figure St. Paul the Apostle, and infamous drug dealer Pablo Escobar.

The Kardashian-West clan has also faced scrutiny over the public struggles of Khloe Kardashian’s husband Lamar Odom, who almost died after a reported drug binge at a Nevada brothel. Media accounts of the story indicate Odom racked up a $75,000 bill prior to his hospitalization. After extensive recovery, Odom recently returned to the limelight by making a public appearance with the Kardashian family and Kanye West.

Then again, it could be that the overall star power of the Kardashians is finally fading with time and the excesses wrought by pop culture’s omnipresence. The first episode of the eleventh and most current season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians garnered some of the lowest ratings in the show’s checkered history, signaling that audiences might be ready to turn their backs on Kris Jenner and her progeny once and for all.
