Ciara Talks Abstinence With Her Boyfriend Russell Wilson, ‘It’s Not Hard At All’

Ciara and her boyfriend Russell Wilson have been open about their relationship since day one, and have spoken several times about their decision to remain abstinent with one another until marriage.

While speaking to People Magazine at the Veuve Clicquot Carnaval in Miami on Saturday, February 20, the 30-year-old singer opened up about their celibacy, and how the couple came to the decision to abstain from sex until they decided to get married.

“No, it’s not hard at all,” she says of not having sex. “He’s an awesome guy and a very confident guy. Just like I feel like I’m a woman that knows what I want, he’s a man who knows what he wants.”

Ciara, who is the mother to 21-month old Future Zahir from a previous relationship, says she takes her relationship with Wilson very seriously, and calls it a “fun new chapter in life.”

“It’s just a fun new chapter in life for me … we talk about everything, and I think that’s what you should be able to do as people and partners in a relationship,” she said. “So, that’s what makes it really beautiful.”

Although Ciara said she is devoted to the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, she said it has been challenging to have a non-physical relationship.

“It’s going pretty good,” Ciara told Cosmopolitan.“We’re hanging in there. I’m not gonna lie. I’m human, so it is not easy, especially when I look at him and I think he is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen — that I’ve ever laid my eyes on, to be honest. I’m like, ‘Look the other way! Look the other way!'”

“But he’s such an awesome guy and the cool thing is that every day, we’re growing with each other. We get to have really healthy conversations and focus on each other as people. That is very important to me and him. It’s very valuable. We’re just enjoying ourselves and going one day at a time and praying and staying positive. Being strong here!”

Ciara also revealed just what abstinence means to the couple. While they can hug and share a kiss, they make sure not to take it too far so they aren’t tempted to do something they may regret later.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Russell Wilson spoke about his decision to remain abstinent with Ciara back in July 2015 during an appearance at The Rock Church. He talked about when he first met the girl of his dreams, and why he wanted to refrain from having sex.

“She was on tour and I was looking at her in the mirror, and she was sitting there. And God spoke to me and said ‘I need you to lead her.’ And I was like, ‘Really? Right now?’ And he goes, ‘No, I want you and need you to lead her.’ And I asked her, ‘What would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table? And just did it Jesus’ way?’ “

“If you can love someone without that, then you can really love someone,” Wilson said. “He has anointed us, He’s called us and asked us to do something special.”

Like Ciara, Russell admitted that it hasn’t always been easy.

“I ain’t gonna lie to ya’ll now. I need ya’ll to pray for us. You’ve seen her on the screen. If there’s a 10, she’s a 15,” he joked at the time. “I need ya’ll to pray for me.”
