A male Britney Spears impersonator has been serenading shoppers at a local British supermarket with an unexpected rendition of one of Spears’ most iconic hits.
The culprit, Peter Hastings, posted a tongue-in-cheek video of himself performing Spears’s 1999 hit “Baby One More Time” on his official Facebook page while sporting a blonde wig and the iconic school-girl costume Britney wore in the single’s iconic video.
But while Britney’s legions of fans are used to seeing the “Scream And Shout” singer performing on some of the most prestigious stages in the world, Hastings opted to take a different approach in his video and instead surprised unsuspecting shoppers at a Tesco supermarket in Beeston, Nottingham in the United Kingdom.
The just over two minute long video, which Hastings posted on social media on February 18, already has close to 30,000 views and shows Peter dancing down the supermarket aisles while loudly singing Spears’ signature tune while being filmed by a friend.
Hastings then shouts, “Beeston Tesco, Britney Spears is here – one time only!”
NottsTV are reporting that Hastings has racked up thousands of views with a number of other light-hearted videos he’s posted of himself online, which feature everything from supermarket covers of R Kelly to kind-hearted videos of himself giving away free umbrellas during a rainy day in the center of the city.
But while Hastings’ is paying a pretty bizarre tribute to Spears in his local supermarket, the video comes just days after the real Britney Spears made her triumphant return to the stage just a few thousand miles away from Hastings’ Nottingham hometown.
Britney Spears continued her Britney: Piece of Me Las Vegas residency shows last week, after telling The Las Vegas Sun that she was “excited” to return to the stage after a short hiatus, during which time she revamped the popular stage show.
“I’ve added a few fan-favorite songs into the show, changed up the intro and had fabulous new costumes designed for each act,” Britney told the Las Vegas periodical last week. “I also put together an amazing dance break to three of my favorite Missy Elliot songs. And we have lasers now. I love the look of the lasers.”
Britney also revealed in the candid chat that it wasn’t her intention to completely overhaul her uber-popular show, which was recently voted the Best Show in Las Vegas, but admitted that she enjoyed about three months of downtime thinking of innovative new ideas to excited audiences.

“The intention wasn’t to completely revamp the show — there are so many parts of the original show that I love and didn’t want to change,” Spears confessed to The Las Vegas Sun earlier this month, “but it’s still a long process, maybe three months or so.”
“Starting with concepts and ideas to creative meetings about the set list and new visuals, getting new mixes of music, creating choreography, then going into weeks of dance rehearsals and finally putting all of the production together,” Spears said. “It’s a lot of moving parts. It makes me tired just thinking about it all!”
But it sounds like Britney’s big Vegas changes were all pretty well received, as Spears’ took to social media following the first show to thank the lucky fans in attendance.
“Vegas, thank you for the warm welcome back!,” Spears told her more than 44 million Twitter followers following her fist show back on February 14, adding, “You all were fire tonight” alongside the show’s hashtag “#PieceOfMe.”
