‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Spoilers: Hints About The Fate Of Jon Snow

Game of Thrones Season 6 is just over two months away, and although eager fans are scouring the internet for spoilers of any kind, the fate of Jon Snow is without a doubt the most discussed topic. Three of the show’s actors, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), and Carice van Houten (Melisandre), have provided subtle spoilers in recent comments on the matter.

Warning: We’re going to jump right into some spoilers. Stop reading now if you don’t wish to read spoilers.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week. Entertainment Weekly reported on his appearance in which Coster-Waldau was pretty straightforward, but may have dropped a spoiler as he left room for speculation about the fate of the Game of Thrones fan favorite, Jon Snow. Nikolaj joked that questions on the topic are inevitable wherever he goes, so he has come up with a way to get this particular Game of Thrones conversation out of the way.

“Whenever I meet someone, I just say ‘Jon Snow is dead. Sometimes of course, I’m in a shop and the poor person there just says, ‘Yeah it’ll be $12.50 please.'”

When Jimmy pushed him to provide a spoiler related to the possibility of a resurrection and commented that stranger things have happened on Game of Thrones, the actor said, “You have a good point. Spoiler: at the end of Season 5, he’s dead.”

So we have one actor saying that Jon Snow is dead at the end of Season 5 of Game of Thrones. What does Natalie Dormer have to say about the matter? The actress spoke with Channel 5 recently and confirmed that even the valiant Jon Snow could not possibly survive the attack he received at the end of last season.

“If you get stabbed that many times, you’re dead, you know. There are some basic medical rules that even apply in Westeros. So Jon Snow is dead right now.”

When she was pushed for a spoiler and was asked to comment further on what she meant by “right now,” the Game of Thrones star simply said, “Right now.”

So now we have two Game of Thrones actors confirming he is dead at the end of Season 5, one adding that he is dead at the moment. So what about the third, Carice van Houten, who plays Melisandre? In a recent appearance on The Late Night hosted by Seth Myers, she appeared in a skit that portrayed a fictional baby shower for Myers’ pregnant wife. Carice’s Game of Thrones character Melisandre was a guest at the party and mentioned that she liked someone she worked with, Jon Snow. She adds that she’s not sure he’s the right guy because she’s “pretty sure he’s dead.”

Seth prompts her for more and asks, “Pretty sure he’s dead?”

She responds with, “Well, at least that’s the way it was left.”

So what are we to make of all these cryptic statements about the future of Jon Snow in Season 6 of Game of Thrones? None of it gives us much concrete information. But given the implication by these three actors that he may not remain dead along with sightings of Harington in full costume on a Game of Thrones set and his appearance in the Season 6 poster and multiple teasers that are seen as spoilers, support for the possibility of a resurrection is growing.

Game of Thrones Season 6 will premiere on HBO on April 24. Variety reported that over eight million viewers tuned in for the Season 5 finale, about a million more viewers than the show had for its Season 4 finale. The Season 5 finale also blew up Twitter, with 436,000 tweets that were seen by over five million unique visitors.
