Jennifer Garner And Ben Affleck Spend Valentine’s Weekend Together, But Garner Is Still Moving On

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got away from the paparazzi’s glaring lens during one of the most romantic weekend’s of the year. The two went back to their lodge in Big Sky, Montana, for a weekend with their children, Violet, 10, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 3.

After the news hit that they were spending Valentine’s Day together, outlets reported that this was a sign of a reconciliation for the couple, who haven’t officially filed for divorce despite announcing their intention to divorce back in June. That said, People magazine is reporting in a new cover story that the couple are still heading towards a divorce even though they continue to spend a lot of time together.

In fact, friends of Jennifer Garner’s told People that this is the happiest she’s been in a long time, and she’s ready to move on from Ben Affleck, adding, “She seems much more relaxed and is enjoying life.”

The two also spent their family time at Big Sky over the Christmas holiday as well. Initial reports said that the two were staying in separate rooms, much like their initial set up post-separation.

Affleck was originally staying in the same home in Brentwood, California, that they shared for years, but the situation of the two cohabitating in the same space became too stressful for the couple.

A source told People, “The kids love when Ben is home and that’s why Jen let him stay at the family house. She never wanted them to be disappointed that Ben wasn’t there. But it was emotionally draining for her.”

As for spending time together, the couple kept a united front that this is just for the children, and they will continue to spend time as a family for the sake of their kids. Sources say that just because they are snapped sharing family time together doesn’t mean that they’re headed for a reconciliation.

Of Affleck’s stance, a source said, “[H]e’s putting on a united front of respect for the children and for her and for each other. On that, Ben has never wavered.”

Another source said of Garner and Affleck’s relationship post-separation, “They’re not [best] friends, but they share in the joy of their children.”

Prior to reports circulating about their recent return to Big Sky, Montana, the two were snapped having a family dinner at Forma Restaurant. During that time, a witness told People that “you can tell that they are not together. The kids usually tell him long stories about what happened in school or upcoming activities.”

Although reports state that Garner is looking to move on from Ben, this doesn’t necessarily mean in the romantic sense. As the Inquisitr reported, back in September, a source said that although Garner is de-stressing from the difficult time, she can’t imagine dating.

“It will probably be a long time before she is able to move on romantically,” the insider claimed.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner aren’t the only couple in Hollywood to co-parent successfully. Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin have been successful, and recently, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani have tried their hand at it as well. As for Affleck and Garner’s divorce, the couple decided not to go through the courts. Instead, they have opted for mediated counseling for financial matters.
