Joey Feek Cancer Update: Joey And Rory Celebrate Daughter’s Second Birthday, Share Heartwarming Video

Joey Feek and her husband, Rory Feek, have a lot to be thankful for, despite Joey’s current battle with terminal cancer.

Last week, the country music duo released their final album Joey+Rory: Hymns That Are Important To Us. On Sunday, they celebrated what will likely be their last Valentine’s Day together, and on Monday, they watched the Grammy Awards with their family, and although they didn’t win, they celebrated simply being nominated.

As if their week hasn’t been filled with enough joy already, Joey and Rory’s daughter, Indiana (“Indy” for short), is celebrating her second birthday today, a milestone Joey had been praying to live to see since she decided to stop treatment and enter hospice care in October, 2015.

This morning, Rory shared a heartwarming video on the duo’s Facebook page of Indy in her pajamas. In the video, Rory can be heard telling Indy that today is her birthday as she repeatedly smiles at the camera. Rory captioned the video by saying: “… barely awake and already celebrating.” Click here to watch the precious video.

Last week, Rory shared a post on his blog, This Life I Live, called the “master plan,” in which he detailed the plans for Indy’s birthday party, revealing that it will of course be Gruffalo-themed.

“That’s a perfect description of the birthday party we have planned for Indy,” Rory wrote. “It’s of course going to be Gruffalo-themed … he has ‘terrible teeth in his terrible jaws!’. My mother-in-law June is going to make Indy a paleo ‘Gruffalo crumble’ cupcake, and we’ll have ‘owl ice cream’ … and we will do our best to make it the very special day that it is.”

According to a previous report by the Inquisitr, Joey Feek is very weak and is confined to her hospice bed. Therefore, Rory said they planned on bringing the party to her and will adjust what they have to to make sure Joey is as involved in the celebration as possible.

“Our plan is to put streamers up around Joey’s bed and move Indiana’s high-chair in beside her, so Joey can be part of it,” Rory continued. “So she can watch our little-one eat her cupcake and rip the wrapping paper off her gifts. But Joey is very fragile right now, and so with all of these plans we have, we will need to adjust for what my wife needs.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Joey Feek was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer in May, 2014, three months after giving birth to her daughter. Because the cancer was so advanced, her doctors recommended she undergo a radical hysterectomy, along with chemotherapy and radiation. Joey completed the treatment, and appeared to be getting better. However, a mid-October scan revealed that her cancer had not only returned, but it had also spread to other parts of her body, including her colon.

Joey’s cancer was spreading quickly and aggressively, leaving the doctors with little to nothing to do. Although Joey could continue to receive chemo and radiation, it would only buy her a bit more time, not the cure she had so desperately been hoping and praying for. Therefore, Joey made the heartbreaking decision to stop treatment and return to her home in hospice care to live out the remainder of her days with her family.
