At 31 years old, the former The Bachelor contestant Lex McAllister has died. The heartbreaking news comes after her pre-Valentine’s emergency trip to the hospital ended in her death on February 16. According to TMZ, Lex was found unconscious after she overdosed on prescription pills. The 911 call reportedly came in on Saturday, February 13, at around 2 p.m. reports the Hollywood Gossip. The celebrity news site stresses that the victim’s family have asked for privacy in this difficult time. Lex’s family, as well as the police, believe that the overdose was deliberate and that McAllister intended to commit suicide. The Bachelor star was stabilized during her trip to the hospital, and was apparently doing well enough that the McAllister family hoped for a complete recovery.
However, soon after the initial signs of recovery were observed, McAllister’s organs began to fail completely. Medical staff warned the family to expect the worst, and Lex slipped into brain-death shortly after her arrival at the hospital.
Tragically, the McAllister family was forced to make the final decision on Monday, as they were left with no options or hope of recovery. The family elected to withdraw life support, and Lex passed two days after Valentine’s Day as a result. The former The Bachelor contestant allegedly struggled with depression and bipolar disorder. The struggles with these crippling social disorders are considered to have led to the suicidal tendencies.

Lex competed on The Bachelor, where she and other women fought for the affections of heartthrob Jake Pavelka. McAllister was featured on the show’s most popular year, Season 14. Though a stunner herself, the late Lex was cut from the show on the first season. Ever the kindhearted optimist, Lex famously defended her rival, and the woman who was chosen by Jake over herself. McAllister was clear that the breakup was not Vienna’s fault, and that Lex had no hard feelings for Vienna Ghiardi.
The news of Lex’s suicide comes as a particularly unpleasant shock, as this is the second suicide associated with a Season 14 contestant of The Bachelor. Another contestant, Gia Allemand, was found dead after hanging herself.

Jake, the titular bachelor himself, was “devastated” by Allemand’s death. Pavelka was “in complete shock” when he heard the terrible news about Gia’s suicide.

According to Extra TV, Lex McAllister was a self-made career woman and a “business development expert, franchise consultant and entrepreneur” who had everything to live for.
The tragic news of Lex’s suicide reminds us that everyone is susceptible to depression, even incredibly popular and funny people like the late Robin Williams, who knew what it was like to feel alone and depressed.
“The saddest people always try to make people happy because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to feel like that.”
Hopefully, this becomes a reminder that just because someone looks happy and successful doesn’t mean they aren’t thinking of suicide. Our hearts are with the McAllister family, and the Allemand family, as both go through these struggles.
So sad. Our thoughts are with the family. https://t.co/8f8zuAAQKx
