Sony Unveils Fleet Of New Music Players: Android-Powered F800 Series

Sony has unveiled a handful of new music players along with all the fun toys and accessories, including the F800 series Walkman music player (complete with a big touchscreen) with Android doing the heavy lifting.

The new players follow the Walkman NW-Z1000 revealed earlier this year, complete with a big 4.3-inch display, reports ipodnn. The F800 series runs on Android 4.0 ICS, and is WiFi-enabled, allowing the operator to download all sort of apps. The 3.5-inch F800 comes with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), but uses the S-Master MX Digital Amplifier and an integrated xLoud speaker system for flawless audio reproduction.

“Users enjoy crisp highs and full, thumping bass powered by S-Master Digital Amplifier from Sony that cuts distortion and unpleasant clipping for clearer listening,” writes a device reviewer for Mobile Tech Review Forum. “Interacting with your digital music collection, applications and games is a pleasure thanks to the large, highly-responsive 3.5-inch multi-touch screen and powerful performance with NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processer [sic].”

Slashgear said that the F800 series is, “certainly the most interesting of the new products Sony has unveiled.”

The device comes in 8 GB to 32 GB capacities, and comes out-of-box with pre-installed apps ranging from e-mail to maps and media offerings, reports slashgear. Bluetooth connection is also available. The new Sony Walkman lineup is available in Europe as of this posting (July 18th), and at this time there are no details for North American availability. When they do hit the states, the F800 is expected to retail at roughly $300.

And now, without further adieu, here are some pictures of fun toys:
