‘Fifty Shades Darker’: From Feuds To Full Frontal — Everything We Know About The ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Sequel

With Fifty Shades Darker set to begin production in the coming weeks, fans are already getting excited about the next chapter in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. However, there are still a lot of mysteries surrounding the highly-anticipated sequel. From feuds to the latest news on the full frontal, here is everything to know about the upcoming film.

To begin, Fifty Shades Darker is going to be a lot different than the first movie. While Fifty Shades of Grey was more erotic drama than anything else, Hollywood is reporting that the sequel is a thriller. Part of this surrounds Christian’s desire to win Ana back, and part of it has to do with Christian’s past demons resurfacing.

Speaking of Christian’s past, the movie is set to introduce a number of new characters that are sure to spice things up. This includes the role of Gia Matteo. According to Design & Trend, former Vampire Diaries star Arielle Kebbel has been cast to play the role of Gia.

As fans may recall, Gia is an oppressive character in the books who works as Christian’s architect. Despite her sultry attitude, Christian thinks she is a beautiful lady while Ana respects her work.

The introduction of Gia completes a trio of new women that are set to make life difficult for Ana. The other two female characters are Mrs. Robinson and Leila Williams. Kim Basinger is set to play the part of Mrs. Robinson, who has an interesting past history with Christian.

Mrs. Robinson was the first person to teach Christian the ways of the BDSM world and was also the first person whom Christian slept with. Although it isn’t known how closely the movie will stick to the book, her character is sure to cause problems with Ana and Christian’s relationship.

At the same time, Movie News Guide is reporting that Bella Heathcote is going to play the role of Leila. The Australian actress has appeared in a number of films, including Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Leila is one of Christian’s former submissive partners who suffers a mental collapse and begins stalking her former lover. The character is fairly unstable, carries a gun, and is one reason why Christian is pushed into getting back with Ana. Considering Heathcote’s past roles, she should be a great fit for this dark character.

Apart from the new female faces, there are still two characters that have not been cast. Producers have yet to sign on actors for the roles of Jack Hyde and Dr. Flynn, both of whom have significant parts in the upcoming film.

Hyde is set to be the main villain in the movie. Not only will he be introduced as Ana’s new boss, but he is also one of Christian’s biggest enemies and has his sights on getting with Ana. In fact, their feud is expected to be one of the main plots in the film and will definitely give it more of a thriller vibe.

For his part, Dr. Flynn is Christian’s therapist who pretty much knows all the ins and outs of Christian’s life, including his darkest thoughts and emotions.

Aside from the aforementioned actors, both Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are set to reprise their roles as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades Darker. Furthermore, James Foley is set to helm to the movie following the departure of director Sam Taylor Johnson.

Fifty Shades Darker is scheduled to open in theaters on February 10, 2017, while Fifty Shades Freed will be released one year later. Until then, production for Fifty Shades Darker is expected to begin as early as next week.
