‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival Adds Fan-Favorite To List, Milo Ventimiglia Is Returning To Stars Hollow

Gilmore Girls being brought back to the small screen has people everywhere excited. The series ran for seven seasons, finally ending in 2007. There has been speculation for years about whether or not a movie would be made, and Netflix decided to pick Gilmore Girls up. Right now, there are four 90-minute episodes slated to air. No official title has been released, and everyone is still waiting on a release date to be given. Filming for the Gilmore Girls revival began last week. Assumptions are being made that 2017 will see the release of the Gilmore Girls revival, but it could be much sooner if all goes well.

The premise of the new Gilmore Girls hasn’t really been discussed. Speculations have been running rampant, especially about who Rory will end up with. A few days ago it was confirmed that Matt Czuchry will be returning in his role of Logan. This really got the rumor mill turning, and now another fan-favorite has been confirmed. According to Us Weekly, Milo Ventimiglia will be reprising his role of Jess Mariano in the Gilmore Girls revival. Does this mean that he is in town for Luke? Could Luke and Lorelei have made it? All of this has sent fans into a frenzy about where the scripts will go. To complete the Rory story, Jared Padalecki would have to reprise Dean. There have been talks about getting him to sign on, but time constraints aren’t working out.

There are so many possibilities for the Gilmore Girls revival. Fans have been writing their own stories about the ending of the show for years now. It has been almost a decade since Gilmore Girls left the air, and so many questions were left hanging in the balance. Rumors of a possible comeback have been circulating for at least three years, with Netflix finally confirming the reboot just a few weeks ago. Since then, casting news has been released. Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel were obviously returning since they are the Gilmore Girls staples. Others initially confirmed were Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, and Keiko Agena.

Several of the original Gilmore Girls stars have been doing other things, advancing their careers further than many thought possible. Milo Ventimiglia was on Heroes and The Whispers, Melissa McCarthy is a movie star and starred in Mike & Molly, and Liza Weil stars in How to Get Away With Murder. According to E! Online, Liz Weil confirmed she is returning Gilmore Girls. In fact, she detailed that her first day was happening soon, and the official filming for the reboot began just eight days ago. With Weil and Ventimiglia on board, it is a shame that not everyone is returning. Things have been back and forth regarding Melissa McCarthy and the Gilmore Girls revival. While McCarthy says that she was not asked back, there has been talk that she has but turned down the chance to appear. Gilmore Girls put her on the map, and some fans are not impressed with the snub.

Now that Milo Ventimiglia is confirmed for the Gilmore Girls revival, dreams of a Rory and Jess reunion seem possible. Many fans have said that these two belong together, while others prefer Rory with either Logan or Dean. So many possibilities have opened up with two of the three boyfriends returning, leaving Gilmore Girls writers with quite a predicament. Ventimiglia has not said too much since the announcement of his return earlier today, but fans have been bombarding him on social media. An announcement about an expected release date should be coming soon, and Gilmore Girls fans are waiting patiently in the wings.
