Ray Romano Back With New ‘Ice Age’ Film, Talks Marital Woes

Actor Ray Romano has had a bit of a lower profile since his hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond went off the air in 2005, but he still pops up from time to time.

And Ray Romano’s distinctive voice has been a large feature of the Ice Age series of animated films in recent years, for which he provides for the character of Manny, a sensitive Woolly Mammoth. (Romano also starred in the 2008 TNT series Men of a Certain Age with Scott Bakula.)

So what has Ray Romano been up to since he quit Everybody Loves Raymond and in-between Ice Age installments? Romano went on David Letterman’s show recently to chat with the late-night host about work and life, and he said that of late, he’s been getting on his wife’s nerves.

Romano has been happily married to the same woman since 1987, and a 25-year-long marriage in an accomplishment of which anyone, famous or not, should be proud. But especially in Hollywood, where marriages seem to begin and end on whims and marital longevity is the exception, Romano’s enduring marriage in light of his massive success is ever more impressive.

But is it easy? (Is marriage ever easy?) Romano jokes about it with Letterman, making a lighthearted prediction that his wife is about to give him the elbow due to the fact he’s getting on her nerves. Predicting another two years of marriage, Romano says:

“She’s reading a book, I’m e-mailing a friend. She puts the book down, looks at me and goes, ‘I can’t stand the way you type.’ If we’re at the point where my typing is annoying her, how long is it until, ‘You blink like an (expletive!)'”

Ray Romano can be seen (sort of) in Ice Age, which opened nationwide Friday.
