Animal Kingdom Provides Super Bowl Predictions: Could They Be Right?

As America waits in eager anticipation for the 50th Super Bowl, predictions are flying and spreading like wildfire across the media.

Among these are ambassadors from the animal kingdom who have contributed their own predictions. While, as the Inquisitr reports, you can research and review professional predictions all day long, sometimes it’s nice to take a break from the serious side of the Super Bowl and just enjoy the fun of it. Currently, zoos, aquariums and television shows have participated in showing the world what their furry friends think about the potential Super Bowl outcome.

Salt Lake City’s Hogle Zoo possesses the jackpot when it comes to Super Bowl predicting animals.

“Eli the orangutan was the real beast, going 7-0 before passing away in 2014. A lion named Vulcan picked the Patriots last year. This year, for the first time, Eli’s son, Tuah, made a prediction — the Panthers,” Sporting News writer Arthur Weinstein reported.

The Memphis Zoo’s resident panda bear, Le Le, wrapped himself up in a Panthers blanket this past week, providing more hope for the team.

The wildlife education company Zooniversity released a video of Teddy Bear, a porcupine who has predicted three out of four Super Bowl winning teams. This year, Teddy Bear picked the Broncos.

CBS San Francisco said that the San Francisco Zoo has officially claimed that the Panthers will win based off of the fact that a lioness and her cub succeeded in “spiking” a football on Friday.

The zoo set the two lions (representing the Panthers) against a black rhino named Boone (representing the Broncos). Each team was given a treat and whoever finished first signified the winning team in the Super Bowl 50. The lion cub and his mother, Sukari, finished their treat around 20 seconds before Boone. Their official time was one minute, 13 seconds.

Finally, Boudreaux, a black bear at Fort Worth Zoo with a positive prediction record, has also decided that the Panthers will win this year.

Another string of animal predictions are flooding in from talk shows and media sites.

Jimmy Fallon, a king of comedy, entertainment and talent, let a litter of yellow labrador puppies do the predicting on The Tonight Show Thursday night. Fallon has used this method in the past, including last year’s Kentucky Derby as well as the 2015 Final Four Championship, though the puppies have not always proved to be successful in their predictions.

Even though they’re not necessarily a reliable source, no one can deny that the puppies are adorable, entertaining and worth the watch.

Live! with Kelly and Michael hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan set two teacup piglets head-to-head in a race to see who would be this year’s winning team. Ripa laughed when she explained the rules of the race.

“When the music begins, we’re going to put down our pigs and coax them to the finish line with piggie treats, which look like fruit loops.”

In the end, the piglet wearing the Broncos T-shirt won the race, foretelling the team’s success.

Even aquariums have participated in the rampant prediction-casting. At the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida, two manatees have settled on their teams of choice. According to TIME, Buffet, an experienced fellow in the field of predictions, chose the Broncos; his tank-mate, Hugh, picked the Panthers.

Even though animals are in little or no way reliable, they are an entertaining way to involve people from various areas of public life in this spectacular American event we call the Super Bowl.

What do you think? Are such predictions reliable, entertaining or just a waste of time? Leave your comments below and tell us what you think!
