‘RHOP’ Star Ashley Darby Says The ‘THOT’ Comment Doesn’t Suit Her At All

The Real Housewives of Potomac star Ashley Darby is one of the youngest housewives on the show, and it sounds like some of the ladies were a bit intimidated by it. Gizelle Bryant quickly assumed that Ashley had married an older man for money and she called her a “THOT” (translated to “that hoe over there.”) Bryant claimed that it was Darby’s behavior that led to the comment, but luckily, Darby didn’t take it seriously.

According to a new Bravo report, Real Housewives of Potomac star Ashley Darby is now revealing that the hoe comment doesn’t suit her one bit, which is why she doesn’t take it seriously. Luckily, she can laugh it off, and Gizelle simply made a comment without knowing anything about Ashley.

“I was not surprised – I cannot expect someone who would use such a divisive and offensive word to actually think about what she’s saying. When the conversation began, I knew she would keep preaching the same sermon about me acting ‘hoe-ish,’ but I was prepared to move on from that. Since I’m a happily married woman who likes to have innocent fun, her description didn’t fit me, so there was no need to keep my panties twisted in a bunch. Mickey wouldn’t like that,” Ashley Darby reveals in her blog for The Real Housewives of Potomac.

Of course, Ashley was clearly the adult in this situation, as she could quickly move on from the comment without thinking twice about it. Bryant still had a hard time not judging the younger housewife, as she said that she acted hoe-ish. This was an explanation that came after the show aired, which could have been Bryant backtracking her comment.

“The reality is I still have the vitality of an outgoing and energetic young woman, and that may have rubbed Gizelle and Robyn the wrong way. I did not intend to offend them, so I’m glad we could squash it. Don’t get it twisted – by no means do I think the ice queens have warmed up to me, but we need to just savor these moments of peace. I’m sure this is just the tip of the iceberg with these cougars anyway,” Darby adds, according to Bravo.

So, why does Gizelle think these things about Ashley Darby? It’s not like Darby talked about her husband’s money when she met her co-stars. According to Starcasm, Ashley Boalch is now 24-years-old, and she met Australian real estate developer Michael Darby when she was just 18-years-old. She was bartending at the time and putting herself through school. The two got together after she won the Miss District of Columbia beauty pageant in 2011. The two have since married, and she is now the stepmother to his two children, who are very close in age to her.

While some relationships may not be able to survive such an age gap, it sounds like Ashley and Michael took their time to get to know one another. They dated for four years before tying the knot, which is longer than some of the other relationships in the Real Housewives franchise. Some of the other wives have dated for much shorter and then married — and then divorced. Maybe Michael wanted to make sure that Ashley was in it for love and not for money.
