Lamar Odom Update: Drug Overdose Mentioned On ‘KUWTK,’ But Not Filmed

Lamar Odom’s drug overdose was mentioned on last night’s episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians Season 11. However, it wasn’t featured in the way many expected. Instead, the E! Network offered a message of explanation for a gap in filming.

“On October 13, 2015, Lamar Odom was hospitalized after being found unconscious in Las Vegas,” the message read, according to a February 1 report by the Daily Mail. “Khloe, Kim and Kris immediately flew to be with him while he was placed on life support. Out of love and respect for Lamar and the family, filming of Keeping Up With The Kardashians was stopped for a brief period. After seven days, Lamar was airlifted back to Los Angeles for continued treatment.”

Two weeks after Lamar Odom was transferred to Los Angeles, where he was taken to West Hollywood’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Keeping Up With The Kardashians cameras began rolling once again, and at that point, Kris Jenner was seen discussing her son-in-law’s health crisis during a conversation with her oldest daughter, Kourtney Kardashian.

“I felt helpless. It was really crazy,” she said. “First of all we had to find a helicopter that was big enough for [Lamar Odom] because he’s so tall. Once they secured that, we took him upstairs to the roof, put him in the helicopter and then I was sitting in the car waiting to hear when they took off. As soon as they went up into the air, I raced to the airport, took off, landed before they did, went to Cedars, met all the doctors before they did. Everyone showed up in the middle of the night, we got him settled and then I went home.”

In addition to the Kardashian-Jenner family’s support of Lamar Odom, he was also visited by his ex-girlfriend, Liza Morales, his aunt, JaNean Mercer, his two children, Lamar Odom Jr. and Destiny Odom, and several of his former teammates, including Kobe Bryant. However, it was Lamar Odom’s estranged wife, Khloe, who remained at his side.

“Khloe has been spending every second in the hospital with [Lamar Odom], by his side, and she feels guilty for needing to leave, even if it’s to take a shower,” Kourtney explained during the episode.

After he was transferred to Los Angeles, Lamar Odom remained under medical supervision at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for three months before he was released.

Since leaving the hospital, Lamar Odom continues to receive outpatient care in hopes of one day making a full recovery, and as he does, he’s remained extremely close with Khloe and her family, and spends time with them regularly. In fact, according to a People Magazine report last week, Lamar Odom has moved into a home close to Khloe’s, and the former couple regularly spends time at each other’s homes.

Lamar Odom is also said to be spending plenty of time with Khloe’s family, including the children of her older sister Kourtney — Mason, 6, Penelope, 3, and Reign, 1.

As for Lamar Odom’s recovery, the People Magazine source claimed the former professional athlete still has a ways to go, but right now, he’s starting to look more like his old self as he continues physical therapy and begins to try to walk on his own once again.

For more of Lamar Odom and his recovery, stay tuned to Keeping Up With The Kardashians Season 11, airing on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on the E! Network.
