Steam Summer Sale Begins Today

It’s that time of year again, ladies and gentlemen. For the next week and a half, Valve will be beating you to death with deal after deal until you helplessly hand over every last dime to your name and make that impossibly large video game backlog of yours even larger.

In other words, the annual Steam Summer Sale is officially on.

Starting today, July 12, up until July 22, Valve will be offering a new selection of deals on a wide variety of games every day. Today’s standout items include Modern Warfare 3 for $30, Portal 2 for $4.99, and the Total War: Shogun 2 collection for $19.99.

To make the sale even better–or worse, for all of you impulse buyers out there–Valve isn’t just offering the standard amount of deals each day. There are also flash deals, which offer even more discounts for a very limited time. Currently, Mafia II and Deus Ex: Human Revolution are both up for $7.49 each.

As if all of those deals weren’t dangerous enough, there’s still more. Valve has also opened up a “community choice” deal, which has you, the buyer, voting for which title you’d like to see go on sale. A new title will be rotated in and out every eight hours.

Basically, we’re all screwed.
