Mariah Carey wished upon a star for a romance suited to a fairy-tale princess, and the superstar singer’s wish is coming true. Newly engaged to James Packer, Mariah is flaunting her 35-carat diamond engagement ring while planning her dream life with him, a source told People.

When Carey renewed her vows with her former husband Nick Cannon, she slipped into Cinderella togs and closed down Disneyland to make it an occasion to remember. And although that marriage has gone kaput, Mariah accepted the proposal of her billionaire businessman beau, James, on January 21 to give love another chance.

“Mariah was always a hopeless romantic,” revealed the source. “She deserves the dream and I am sure James will give her just that.”

Just how much can Packer afford when it comes to shelling out for the ultimate wedding? The 48-year-old gave a hint when he inked a lease for a fabulous home near Los Angeles that will cost him about $250,000 monthly. There, Mariah will be joined by twins Moroccan and Monroe, who are 4-years-old (their father is Nick Cannon).

James has a net worth of $4.7 billion, putting him at the number four slot on the list of Australia’s wealthiest individuals.

“[Carey] always loved being showered with roses and diamonds,” a friend told People. “And now her princess fairy tale is coming true.”

Mariah has already tied knot twice, first with music exec Tommy Mottola and then with Cannon (that divorce is yet to be finalized). However, Carey is eager for her third time around, sources told People.

“She is super excited,” said one insider. “And she has never been in a better place.”

And Mariah’s pals predict that Carey will enjoy a wonderful life.

“Mariah is someone who likes to be taken care of,” summed up one friend.

So what goes into a wedding worthy of a fairy princess? Bring on the bling and butterflies for Mariah, complete with a fabulous wedding gown, a source told the Daily Mail.

Carey, 45, and Packer, 48, have planned an extravagant party held at a private retreat located on an island close to the Great Barrier Reef. James will use one of his private planes to get the guests to the secluded location.

As for that wedding gown, four designers are working on it, each of whom has been requested by Mariah to make a unique design. From the choices that result, Carey will choose her favorite, and she’s been planning the gown long before she accepted that proposal.

“Mariah knew she was going to marry him for some time,” shared the source. “She wants butterflies incorporated into the design.”

One designer has come up with a proposal created using 14-karat gold thread, and an arrangement in which the butterflies will look as if they are flying down the gown and train for a look that will stun.

Sabrina DeSage is only 17-years-old, but she’s the one who came up with the gold butterfly concept. Studying at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, Sabrina has a family connection, a friend told the Daily Mail.

“Sabrina is an incredibly talented designer despite her age. She comes from a very well to-do family and her mother Debra knows James Packer socially. Mariah reached out last fall and made it clear that she has asked several designers to create a one of a kind design for her and that she will ultimately choose one of them. That’s her thing of course, and Sabrina’s design has hundreds of gold butterflies, all sewn with 14-karat gold thread, flowing down the back of the silk gown and through the train. It’s going to be absolutely stunning.”

As for how much the customized gown might cost when Carey finally chooses the ultimate design, it’s estimated at $500,000.

As the Inquisitr reported, Carey and Packer have not yet finalized the divorces from their exes. Mariah technically remains married to Nick Cannon, who sent out a clever congratulations to his ex. In addition, James has not yet finalized his own divorce from Erica Packer.

As for what it’s like to have as much money as Mariah and James combined, even the family dogs enjoy the good life. After Carey became engaged and Packer leased their huge new mansion, she flew her puppies first class on American Airlines from her house in Aspen, Colorado, to the new house in California that the couple will be sharing, a source told Page Six.

The Jack Russells, whose names are Cha Cha and Jill E. Beans, dislike each other, so they fly in separate kennels. The dogs are accompanied by two different members of Mariah’s staff, with the journey estimated at more than $2,000 per pup.

The new house occupies 18,000 square feet in Calabasas, California. The monthly $250,000 includes a spa, gym, and movie theater.

As to why the divorce between Mariah and Nick hasn’t been finalized, the issue concerns determining the custody agreement concerning the twins.
