Everyone is anxiously awaiting the arrival of Valentine’s Day, but not necessarily for the holiday that it brings. Many are more looking forward to the midseason premiere of season 6 of The Walking Dead on AMC. It’s just a few weeks away and there is a lot that will be coming in the second half of this season, but not a lot of solid info about it. Well, AMC has now given the fans something with a few new images from the premiere on Feb. 14.
Please let it be known that there are possible SPOILERS ahead for the current season and comic book of The Walking Dead. If you don’t want to know them, stop reading now.
On Sunday, AMC put images out there from the midseason premiere, and there isn’t a ton to be gotten from them. Still, there are some signs of things to come in the beginning of the second half of season six.
There are three pictures which kind of tell a big story as to something that will be happening in the midseason premiere. Daryl Dixon is featured by the truck in one image, and that isn’t overly surprising, but is he by himself?
No, he isn’t.
Abraham is with him.
Sasha is with the both of them outside of the truck. It honestly seems like Sasha is on one side of the truck and Daryl is on the other, but the shot of Abraham features him in what appears to be a crouched-down position so it’s not clear where he is.
Cinema Blend says that even though not a lot is shown in any of the pics, they’re quite telling in that it proves the trio will be seen in the midseason premiere. This does mean that not only will everyone in town be shown in their Walker-blood soaked clothing, but so will the trio instead of episodes devoted entirely to one or the other.
Now, fans last saw the trio of survivors in a face-off with a band of bikers looking to take everything they owned since it now all belonged to Negan.
This was the first overall mention of Negan, the infamous villain from the comics, in the TV series for The Walking Dead. It is known that he is coming and will be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who is perfect for the role.
Robert Kirkman, the head of all things The Walking Dead, recently spoke on Negan and has said that his appearance and debut will be like an “atomic bomb.”
Entertainment Weekly spoke with Kirkman about the key character from the comics and how he will be showing up with his barb-wire-covered baseball bat named “Lucille.” Still, he won’t be the only big-time character coming in the second half of season 6.
A bearded survivor named Jesus aka Paul Monroe will be arriving soon, and he’s bringing his ninja-fighting skills with him in the form of British actor Tom Payne.
Jesus will arrive from another community of survivors that is known as the Hilltop. He could end up being a great ally for the Alexandrians, Kirkman is really thrilled about the addition of this character and knows that he will add greatly to the series.
“Jesus is just such a fun character to write in the comics. At this point in the life of the series, my thought is the apocalypse has been going on for so long, the people you encounter in your day-to-day life have to be extremely skilled. And they’ve been surviving for a reason, whether they were at a place like Alexandria that’s very safe, or they’re a great leader of their group and somewhat sadistic but in control of their group like Negan, or someone who’s an absolute, complete bada** like Jesus.”
Season 6 of The Walking Dead is only half over, and so much has already happened with everyone’s favorite group of survivors. There is still much more to come though, and these new images from AMC’s midseason premiere give just a small taste of what Valentine’s Day will bring.
