Fifty Shades Of Grey Movie To Be Developed By ‘The Social Network’ Producers

The E.L. James best seller Fifty Shades of Grey has scored some top-notch producers in Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti, the team behind the highly successful Facebook movie The Social Network.

The pair will produce the Fifty Shades of Grey with the help of the book’s author at Universal pictures / Focus Features.

A director still needs to be hired and we’re assuming the adapted script is still being ironed out but with E.L. James earning $1 million per week from her fan fiction turned best seller we’re sure the studio’s heads will be demanding a quick turn around time for the feature film.

If you’re not familiar with De Luca and Brunetti they shared credits on the 2010 smash hit The Social Network which was a best picture nominee. De Luca was also responsible for production on Moneyball (another best picture nominee). The producer pair are also behind the upcoming Paul Greengrass-Tom Hanks helmed drama Captain Phillips which surrounds the true life story of a recent Somali pirate incident.

De Luca was seen as a smart choice for producing Fifty shades of Grey because of his bad boy past. In the 1990s De Luca was involved in a notorious tabloid incident that involved a sex act at the home of Hollywood veteran Arnold Rifkin

De Luca and Brunetti are two of Hollywood’s younger producers which should serve them well when it comes to connecting with the books audience, many of whom are younger adults.

Will you be running out to see Fifty Shades of Grey when it hits theaters?
