‘Orange Is The New Black’ Spoilers And Season 4 Release Date Announcement

Orange is the New Black will return to Netflix for its fourth season on June 17, according to Hollywood Life. The streaming service also released a teaser for the new season that tells us we’ll be returning to Litchfield with this lively group of female prisoners. It includes some flashbacks to previous seasons and some sassy quips from some of our favorite characters, like Nicky (who is played by Natasha Lyonne) describing Litchfield as “Just like the Hamptons, only horrible.” You can view the teaser below.

Between the Orange is the New Black spoilers that have recently slipped out and the newly-released teaser, we know a little about what may happen in the new season, enough to pique our interest and make us eager for June 17 to arrive.

We know one thing from the way Season 3 of Orange is the New Black ended. There will be lots of new inmates. The last season ended with a busload of new inmates and that is sure to stir things up at Litchfield. We don’t know a lot about those inmates, but we do know, thanks to Deadline, that Jolene Purdy has been signed for a recurring role. We just don’t know what that role is.

Orange is the New Black has also signed Jackie Cruz (who plays Flaca) and Lea DeLaria (who plays Big Boo) as regulars for the new season, so we will see more of them. And hopefully, there will be flashbacks that show us what their lives were like before prison.

In a big Orange is the New Black spoiler, Laura Prepon (who plays Alex) posted an Instagram photo (which has since been removed) that seems to confirm that Alex is not dead. Season 3 left us wondering if she was going to be shot to death by one of Kubra’s people, but apparently that’s not the case. Pop Sugar nabbed that Instagram photo before it was pulled. You can view it here.

Orange is the New Black spoilers were also provided by show creator Jenji Kohan at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Sunday, according to Latin Post. She hinted that fans may not like Piper as much after this season, saying that, “I think Piper’s definitely on a journey. We work through the vicissitudes of likability.” Things got a little odd and cringeworthy with Piper last season with her underwear business. Does her lack of likability have to do with that or something else?

Blair Brown, who plays Martha Stewart wannabe Judy King, commented that Litchfield’s overcrowding problem will create some new dynamics on Orange is the New Black this year. The overcrowding forces groups of people who have not historically gotten along to figure out a way to exist in close spaces. She added that, “Alliances that happen are unexpected.” Hmm. This could get interesting.

And there’s good news from the teaser about some of the characters we’ve come to love. Uzo Aduba as Crazy Eyes, Kate Mulgrew as Red, and Laverne Cox as Sophia are all featured in the teaser, so we will see them all again in June.

Orange is the New Black premiered on Netflix in 2013. It’s been nominated for 79 awards, including 6 Golden Globes, and has won 33 awards, including three Primetime Emmys in 2015 and three Primetime Emmys in 2014. It’s based on the book “Orange is the New Black: My Year in Prison” by Piper Kerman. Orange is the New Black is Netflix‘s most-watched series. It’s the first series to receive Emmy nominations in both drama and comedy categories.
