Bill Maher Wants Obama For His 60th Birthday: Proposes Petition For It

Bill Maher hopes to join the ranks of Zach Galafianakis, Bear Grylls, and Jerry Seinfeld to have President Barack Obama featured on their broadcast program.

Maher, who will turn 60 on Wednesday (January 20), wants fans to visit petitions.whitehouse.gov to sign the statement following statement,

“Herewith, on the occasion of Bill Maher’s 60th birthday, we the people, especially viewers of Real Time with Bill Maher, respectfully request that President Obama appear on Real Time and thereby honor that particular audience (and their support for him), as he has so honored viewers of so many other TV shows and media outlets; or if not, to please, respectfully, tell us why.”

Maher then added, “Sean Penn can get an interview with El Chapo, but I can’t get the President who talks to the lady with green lips,” making the point that he–someone who has been working in the media all of his adult life– cannot land an interview with the POTUS over Glozelle Green, a YouTuber who makes outrageous videos.

Deadline reports that Bill has already collected nearly 30,000 signatures towards his efforts, at the time of this writing. The goal is to reach 100,000 by Valentines Day in order for the White House to recognize the petition and give an official response.

Maher has claimed that he has been nothing but supportive of Obama throughout his campaign. Therefore, he finds that the lack of the POTUS’s consent to be disturbing. “I’ve been pretty supportive,” Maher stated, baffled as to why the president has always declined prior invitations.

From picking college basketball brackets to picking on Donald Trump at correspondence dinners–Obama has proven time-and-time again that he may very well be the best presidential actor since Reagan.

Obama showing up on Bill Maher’s show shouldn’t be detrimental to the integrity of his presidency or anything of the sort, according to Bill.

Quite the contrary actually as Obama has consistently proven to be a great opportunist when it comes to going viral in the media.

Variety reports on exactly how Obama managed to capitalize off of entertainment media and how he landed the sketch on “Between Two Ferns,” which aired on Funny or Die.

Not only did he hold his own against Galifianakis, but used it as a way to promote “Obama Care.”

And let’s not forget about his debut on Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars getting Coffee–where he was arguable the most candid he’s ever been on camera.

Variety also reports that Obama’s appearance passed over 2 million views after only three hours online. The Hangover actor and the president had their back-and-forth during the 6 1/2 minute segment, but the true objective was to urge millennial viewers to sign up for Obama Care before the national deadline on March 31st.

Hollywood has indeed been good to Obama thus far. Therefore, a guest appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher”–a show that pulls in over 4 million viewers– should also be a win for the president, Maher says.

Bill was candid during his wrap up segment on Real Time addressing his discontent for the President rejecting him in favor of other programs.

“You’ve done everything but Ultimate Fights and amateur porn–and if you went any lower you’d be on Fox and Friends,” Bill said about Obama’s wariness to appear on Real Time.

Maher also noted that he rarely asks for his audience’s indulgence. So for his 60th birthday– he’d like for fans to do him this one solid.

So fans who would like to do a favor for a senior citizen like Bill Maher, then all you simply have to do is sign the petition at petitions.whitehouse.gov.
