‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Soap Vet To Return — Sheila Carter To Return To Terrorize Genoa City?

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that a veteran could be returning to the CBS soap opera, and it would be quite a shock to most of the residents in Genoa City. According to the report by Soap Opera Digest, an unnamed veteran soap star will be reprising their role, and the kicker is the character supposedly died years ago. The report made it seems as if the appearance could be soon, and possibly in time for February sweeps. The piece of information led to the fans jumping the gun and suspecting that maybe, perhaps, Shelia Carter (Kimberlin Brown) could be returning soon?

A few months ago, Celeb Dirty Laundry reported that Sheila could be returning to Genoa City. It is a known fact that when The Young and the Restless writers feel the show needs to be spiced up they have two aces in the hole to spice the show up — Ian Ward (Ray Wise) and Sheila Carter. No one is quite as feared as Sheila Carter in Genoa City. The mention of her name sends many of the residents shaking in their shoes. Sheila is the perfect mix of beauty, street smart, and downright evil.

The Young and the Restless teaser doesn’t explicitly state that Sheila would return to the show, only that someone who is believed to be dead, right now. And, it also revealed the original actor would reprise the role. With Victoria Rowell’s legal shenanigans with Sony and CBS, it’s a given that Dru Winters will not return anytime soon. In fact, it is rumored that Troy Beyer was recast in the role of Dru Winters, and as soon as the legal issue surrounding Victoria Rowell is resolved, she will debut on The Young and the Restless.

The Young and the Restless has given their fans the rare treat of seeing Jerry Douglas appear as John Abbott’s ghost occasionally when Jack (Peter Bergman) or Ashley (Eileen Davidson) Abbott needs some guidance from their old man. Since the teaser stated a well-loved character that is believed to have died will return, it brings us to John Abbott. Is it possible that Jerry Douglas could return as an Abbott family member (maybe a mystery twin) they didn’t know they had?

John Abbott is the voice of reason in his appearances with Jack. When he appears, it is usually because Jack needs someone to talk about something of great importance. John can get through to Jack when no one else can. In fact, when Ashley collapsed in the snow, her father, John appeared to her and advised her to do what she knew was right. She interpreted that to mean to work with Dr. Simon Neville (Michael E. Knight) to find a cure for her brain tumor.

Here’s what we know for sure: Colleen Carlton (Tammin Sursok) cannot return — Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) has her heart. So unless the powers that be have some magic potion that allows her to grow a heart, she will not be able to return. On the same token, Delia Abbott (Sophie Pollono) will not be able to go back because she donated her coronas to Connor.

If a well-loved veteran soap opera character is returning to The Young and the Restless, do you think it will be Sheila Carter, Dru Winters, or John Abbott? It is possible that it could be someone completely disappointing, and the writers are building up hype about a lame return? It is still fun to speculate about who could be slated to return during February sweeps month.
