Duggar Family Reportedly Plans To Adopt 20th Child In 2016
2015 was a pretty crazy year for the Duggar family. Jim Bob and Michelle, biological parents to 19 children, saw their oldest son, Josh Duggar, very publicly fall from grace. First he was accused of and admitted to molesting multiple young girls as a 15-year-old; several of them his own younger sisters. Then he was caught up in the infamous Ashley Madison cheating website scandal, ultimately going to “rehab” to address his “sex addiction” issues. Unfortunately for the oldest Duggar sibling, even his foray into rehab led to additional family scandal, as the Reformers Unanimous rehabilitation facility is associated with the notorious Bill Gothard, and many believe it to be nothing more than a money-making front for the the North Love Baptist Church as opposed to providing actual treatment.
In the midst of all of these disasters, mostly related to the actions of Josh Duggar, the Duggar family’s long running TLC show 19 Kids and Counting, was cancelled due to public outrage and the concerns of sponsors.
“I would be so grateful if the Lord blessed us with another one. Saying there are too many children is like saying there are too many flowers.”
The Duggar family has suffered some devastation in recent years in its attempts to grow its brood. In December of 2011, then 45-year-old Michelle Duggar miscarried what would have been her 20th child in the second trimester of her pregnancy. In addition, the 19th Duggar child, Josie, was born three and a half months prematurely. Josie Duggar was just one pound, six ounces when she was delivered due to Michelle’s pregnancy-related health issues, which included gallbladder problems and preeclampsia, reports Today.
Reportedly, a source close to the Duggar family says Jim Bob and Michelle have been seriously considering adoption for quite a while now, and have decided that now’s the right time to get the ball rolling on the adoption process, which can be both expensive and time consuming.
“They’re looking to adopt a child in the New Year.”
The source also reported that the Duggar family doesn’t care about their prospective 20th child’s gender or ethnicity. Rather, Michelle “just wants to help a child’s life.”
While the Duggar family seems adamant that 2016 is the year to add a new adopted child to their family, ENStars reports that their critics aren’t really on board with the plan. Not at all. In fact, according to the ENStars report, the reason behind that the Duggar family wants to add a 20th sibling to their massive brood has nothing to do with making a child’s life better. Rather, it’s reportedly due to the family’s desire to get involved in a new reality TV show to replace the cancelled 19 Kids and Counting.

Only time will tell whether or not the Duggars will be able to pull off their reported adoption attempt. The adoption process is long and arduous, especially for those who opt to use the services of an agency. If the family chooses to organize a private adoption, the process can often be accomplished much more rapidly. If they do manage to adopt their 20th child, there’s no doubt that the Duggar family will get every bit of attention they may be seeking.
