Mike Giannulis Loses 255 Pounds On ‘Extreme Makeover’ [Video]

Mike Giannulis weighed close to 500 pounds at the age of 28. His weight made him depressed, insecure, and too embarrassed to talk to women. But now, after working out and eating right for over a year on the Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition, Giannulis has shed 255 pounds and is ready to find love.

Giannulis said that he ignored his weight problem for a long time.

“I don’t have a full-length mirror anywhere in the whole entire house, and if I can just avoid seeing myself … out of sight out of mind… I want to share who I am with somebody else, but I mean, who would want to see this? I just feel like no girl deserves this.”

ABC reports that Extreme Makeover trainer Chris Powell worked with Giannulis over the course of a year to achieve his goal of losing half of his body weight. By the 90-day mark, Giannulis had lost 129 pounds. By the six month mark, he had found a new girlfriend.

Giannulis even competed in a triathlon, something that he once thought was impossible.

Giannulis’ girlfriend, Meghan, said:

“I know how hard Michael has worked at this triathlon. You don’t find many people like him. I love him so much. I’m just so proud of everything he’s done.”

Mike Giannulis was 493 pounds at the age of 28. Giannulis shed 255 pounds on Extreme Makeover and now weighs 238 pounds.

Giannulis said:

“In all the 29 years I have lived. this has been the best year of my life.”
