Prince William Talks Fatherhood, Admits It’s Made Him More ‘Emotional’
Prince William has opened up about being a father admitting that since the birth of Prince George and Princess Charlotte he has become much “more emotional.”
The 33-year-old royal heir, who is second in line to the British monarchy, made this admission during a documentary for an English documentary entitled When Ant And Dec Met The Prince: 40 Years Of The Prince’s Trust that revolves around his father, Prince Charles’, Prince’s Trust charity.
And Prince William was adamant that his 2-year-old son, Prince George, and 8-month-old daughter, Princess Charlotte, had completely changed his outlook on life. In fact, their births had been so seismic for Prince William that he admitted even “the smallest things” now made him tear up.
According to the BBC, The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, who appeared on the documentary alongside his brother, Prince Harry, declared, “I’m a lot more emotional than I used to be, weirdly.”
“I never used to get too wound up or worried about things,” Prince William admitted. “But now the smallest little things, you well up a little more, you get affected by the sort of things that happen around the world or whatever a lot more, I think, as a father.”
Prince William continued, “Just because you realise how precious life is and it puts it all in perspective. The idea of not being around to see your children grow up and stuff like that.”
Prince William wasn’t quite done praising his family though, because, alongside his brother, he waxed lyrical about the amount of work that his father has done for charity. Prince William declared that Prince Charles had an “insurmountable amount of duty in him.”
“He is incredibly driven to do his duty and that from a very young age has been instilled in him,” Prince William continued. “It is where a lot of his passion and his drive comes from.”
Meanwhile, it was revealed earlier this week that Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, and Prince William’s amount of royal engagements over the course of 2015 paled in comparison to that of their 94-year-old elder Prince Philip and 89-year-old Queen Elizabeth II.
Combined, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, and Prince William only took part in 217 engagements throughout 2015. Prince William partook in 87 official engagements, which include charity events, opening ceremonies, and receptions, while Kate Middleton lagged behind with 62, and Prince Harry managed to take part in 68.
However, the biggest victor in this royal engagement was Princess Anne, who is reported to have conducted around 550 visits over the course of 2015. The 65-year-old daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip is currently the 12th in line for the British monarchy, behind her elder brother, two younger brothers, six nieces and nephews, and great grand-nephew and grand-niece.
