One Direction: Why The Latest Harry Styles Rumors Are A Joke

One Direction star Harry Styles is no stranger to the celebrity rumor mill. The tabloids have had an unhealthy obsession with Harry’s love life ever since Styles and One Direction burst onto the music scene back in 2010. The X-Factor season had barely ended before some sections of the media began to sexualise Harry, a young man who was barely 17-years-old at the time. One Direction’s career had barely begun, but by linking Harry with Caroline Flack, a woman almost twice his age, we saw the beginning of a process that focused more on Styles’ sexuality than his music.

Since that time, we have seen Harry linked with a series of beautiful women, almost all of whom have been high-profile. Harry has been linked with a never-ending parade of fashion models, reality TV stars and musicians. Recent days have seen Harry back in the gossip columns with two of his rumored former lovers as bit part players.

Any fan of Harry and One Direction will be aware that Styles is currently enjoying a well-earned post Christmas break in the Caribbean with members of his family. Harry has been spending some time on a luxury motor yacht with his friends, music management tycoons, the Azoff’s, but the rumor mill went into overdrive when he was spotted in the same restaurant as Kendall Jenner. The Daily Mail speculates that Harry and Kendall must be in a “serious” relationship because both their mothers were present.

Seriously, how many people take mom along when they are on a hot date? Now, there is no doubt that Harry and Kendall are having a great time in each others company. Some of the paparazzi photographs suggest that Styles and Jenner are pretty comfortable in each other’s company, and the Daily Mail suggests that Kendall’s mother, Kris Jenner, is “over the moon” that she is spending time with Harry.

So far, so good, but then some sections of the media take the possible Harry romance story to ridiculous lengths. As an example, Unreality TV suggests that Taylor Swift is “shocked” that Harry and Kendall are spending time together. Seriously, why would Taylor care, much less be shocked, that Harry is spending time with another woman? The Mirror claimed just yesterday that an “unnamed source” close to Taylor revealed the singer’s shock at Harry and Kendall’s friendship.

“Taylor heard from a mutual friend that Harry and Kendall are back together and she is completely shocked.

“She can’t believe Kendall would actually date Harry, especially after their last conversation when she said she would never get involved with him again.”

Long-time One Direction fans will be aware that Taylor was Harry’s “winter girlfriend” way back in 2012. Since then, both Harry and Taylor have been through a host of rumored relationships. Many of Styles’ fans don’t even believe that Harry and Taylor was a genuine romance. It is widely believed that it was a manufactured relationship calculated to secure columns inches to keep both Taylor and One Direction in the news to help boost their careers. It seems extremely unlikely that Taylor would care one jot if Styles was dating Jenner.

Incredibly, the same outlet, the Mirror, is claiming today that Harry and Kendall’s romance may already be over. Their evidence seems to be that Kendall shared a snap on Instagram, in which she looked “moody.”

Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner are clearly friendly. If that relationship develops into a genuine romance, many fans will wish them well. Most One Direction fans want nothing more than to see Styles and the other members of the band happy and enjoying life.

Most fans would want to see Styles left alone to have fun and enjoy life during One Direction’s break, but the signs are that any relationship he may have with Jenner is already developing into a media circus. It is a joke how some outlets have Harry and Kendall practically going down the aisle one day and then breaking up the next. To intimate that Taylor Swift cares whether or not Styles and Jenner are dating stretches credibility to a laughable level.
