Katie Holmes, Suri Move Out Of New York Apartment Shared With Tom Cruise

Katie Holmes and daughter Suri moved out of the New York City apartment they shared with husband Tom Cruise on June 28, reports People.

The 33-year-old actress announced she would start divorce proceedings against Cruise late last week, and a number of witnesses have since seen her shifting her bags to a new apartment elsewhere in the city.

Her new pad is reportedly close to where she attends a gymnastics studio, and where six-year-old Suri also takes classes; something tells me the Church of Scientology might have an inkling of her new address.

Katie and Suri’s big move is going on while Cruise remains in Iceland, where the star is filming Oblivion.

Cruise, who sadly looks set for a rather glum 50th birthday come Tuesday, now faces a legal battle from Holmes over custody of Suri. Early reports have suggested that Holmes is determined to keep full custody of their daughter.

The reasons behind the split have still not been identified by either Holmes or Cruise, but that hasn’t stopped half the world and its dog taking a jolly good guess. Some outlets have reported that Katie was unhappy with Tom’s beliefs in Scientology and his insistence that Suri becomes more involved with the church. Others, meanwhile, have said the divorce was down to Cruise’s ‘controlling’ nature, saying Cruise made all the decisions that influenced their lives.

It all rather reeks of idle speculation, but with a messy divorce battle expected, we could be getting concrete answers as to what went wrong soon.
