E!online is reporting that Rob Kardashian was in bad shape when he got to the hospital. But luckily, with some lifestyle changes, he should improve.
“He’s home already. He went for a little and is fine now. It was a wake up call,” the source tells E! News. The insider adds that Rob’s tests revealed his blood sugar levels were very high, and doctors told him that he needs to lose weight, exercise and dramatically change his diet, or it will get worse.”
It is estimated that Rob Kardashian has gained more than 100 pounds over the last year.
“Rob is such a great guy,” Khloe told People magazine in October. “He’s charming, charismatic, everything. That’s what’s so infuriating. I’m like, ‘Where is your will to live life? Let’s be around people!'”
TMZ says that Kardashian has diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious complication of diabetes where someone’s blood has a build up of ketones. Luckily, with better eating and exercise, Kardashian can send the diabetes into remission, as his type 2 diabetes was brought on through bad habits.
Kardashian is now out of the hospital, and back home with Khloe.
According to US Weekly, Rob Kardashian had no clue that he was diabetic, though in retrospect, he had been having symptoms for some time now. Mother Kris Jenner has been concerned for his health for some time now, but has not been able to force Rob into change.
“I cry myself to sleep literally every night worrying about [Rob],” Jenner said. “It’s breaking my heart.” His sisters Kim and Khloé Kardashian have been eager to help the struggling star, joining him on hikes and offering to get him a chef.”
Kardashian joked this summer about his drastic weight gain.
“Started right here with these milkshakes hahaha…#throwbackthursday,” he tagged a #TBT pic of himself from June 2011 at Las Vegas’ Sugar Factory American Brasserie.”
People Magazine says that Rob Kardashian’s whole family is very worried that he won’t comply with his treatment.
“Rob is still struggling and it makes the family sad,” a source close to the family told PEOPLE earlier this month. “He deals with depression, weight issues and low self-esteem, but that’s been going on for a long time.”
Rob Kardashian, now 28, will have a great deal of work to do if he does not want to end up dependent on insulin, His first step needs to be improving his diet and getting some exercise.
