Taylor Swift To Premiere ‘Out Of The Woods’ Video On New Year’s Eve

Taylor Swift was reportedly taking a break after her 1989 World Tour, but it looks like the country-turned-pop star is still releasing new music off her successful album. It seems like she doesn’t want to overshadowed by Adele’s recent success, so she wants to close out New Year’s Eve with a bang.

Taylor Swift, 26, will debut her new music video, “Out of the Woods,” during the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. This will be the sixth single from Swift’s 1989 album, which has broken records in both 2014 and most of 2015. Swift previously released the singles “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Style,” “Bad Blood,” and “Wildest Dreams.”

There aren’t many details about the “Out of the Woods” single or video, according to The Hollywood Reporter(via the Bustle), which is making some wonder what’s the big deal about this video.

“The show kicks off at 8 p.m. ET, although it’s not exactly clear what time the video will drop, or if Swift herself will be in attendance to introduce it.”

The singer has spoken out about the inspiration behind the song, which is rumored to be about Harry Styles. During Taylor’s acoustic performance of her song at the Clive Davis Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 30, she hinted that their relationship was riddled with anxiety.

“I’m going to play you a song about a relationship I was in that the number one feeling I felt in the whole relationship was anxiety. Because it felt very fragile, it felt very tentative. And it always felt like, ‘Okay, what’s the next road block? What’s the next thing that’s gonna deter this? How long do we have before this turns into just an awful mess and we break up? Is it a month? Is it three days?'”

“And so, you know, I think a lot of relationships can be very solid and that’s kind of what you hope for, for it to be solid and healthy but that’s not always what you get. And it doesn’t mean that it’s not special and extraordinary just to have a relationship that’s fragile and somehow meaningful in that fragility.”

Swift also revealed that she wrote the song with Fun’s Jack Antonoff. She dated Styles in 2012, but the two called off their short-lived relationship in 2013 after they reportedly got into an argument during their post-holiday vacation to the British Virgin Islands. Before their relationship ended, Swift and Styles were seen ringing in the New Year with a kiss, which makes sense as to why her new video would drop on NYE.

When Taylor released her music video for “Style,” there were whispers that the music video was originally meant for “Out of the Woods,” especially since it featured images like a forest and Harry Styles’s necklace, which they both wore during the time they dated. Some fans even assumed that “Style” was best suited for Taylor’s Lana Del Rey-esque single “Wildest Dreams.”

Then in October, One Direction released their music video for “Perfect,” their latest single from their album, Made in the A.M. Fans have been convinced that the song is about Harry Styles and Taylor Swift’s relationship. Some even took to social media to compare images and scenes from “Perfect,” claiming that it’s a response to Swift’s “Style” video. Some scenes show a cloud of smoke above Styles’s head just like Swift’s cloudy head in her music video.

Late last month, the singer was spotted spending a lot of time in New Zealand. Sources close to Swift confirmed that the singer was in fact shooting a video for “Out of the Woods,” in New Zealand, which means that the video will feature the country’s beautiful greenery and exotic wildlife. There have also been speculation over whether or not Swift’s BFF Lorde would make an appearance in the video.
