‘Young And Restless’ Star Scott Elrod Shares Scoop On New Projects: ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Stint, Fatherhood In The Works

Scott Elrod may have played a bad guy on The Young and the Restless in the role of Joe Clark, but it seems as if he is a happy guy off-screen these days. Elrod recently wrapped up his time in Genoa City, but news is out about two big projects ahead of him. What’s the scoop?

Elrod joined Young and Restless in 2014 as Avery Clark’s ex-husband. She alleged that he had been abusive in the past, and had raped her, but he kept managing to slide out of trouble and a broken Avery eventually left town. Joe then set his sights on Lily, but a vicious encounter at the Abbott cabin ended with Joe being locked up for six years.

Lily and Cane fans were not thrilled with the storyline of having Joe breaking up this marriage, and it seems the writers decided to end this one on something of a whimper. Joe was carted off to jail, and it was only after a subsequent conversation that it was noted he had been sentenced to several years in prison.

As Celeb Dirty Laundry details, the show never made any formal announcements about Scott Elrod leaving or about Joe Clark’s last appearance. It was said that Joe was behind the extortion of Devon, and the scenes on December 11 involving Elrod’s were indeed his last with Y&R. Of course, the character could return at some point, but viewers are buzzing about how it was a fairly strange exit for Joe after all the drama he caused in Genoa City.

Luckily, fans of Elrod’s won’t have to wait long to see him in something else. The actor shared via Instagram that he will be playing the role of military oncologist Dr. Will Thorpe on an upcoming episode of Grey’s Anatomy. She Knows Soaps details that Elrod already has a connection with ABC’s Shonda Rhimes shows, as he previously appeared on How to Get Away With Murder. The actor has done a number of other primetime gigs, as well.

At this point, it is not known whether Elrod will be in multiple episodes or just one, or when his episode will air. The Grey’s Anatomy gig isn’t the only good news Elrod has had to share lately, though. He is also expecting a baby with girlfriend Vanessa Vazart. Scott shared this news via his Instagram page as well, by showing a photo of texts he got from his mom as he broke the big news.

Italian interior designer Vanessa Vazart already has one daughter, Lilli, and she lives in Los Angeles with Scott, Lilli, and dogs Lola and Sonny. Scott posts pictures of Lilli on his Instagram quite frequently, and it is clear that he is extremely excited about this upcoming family expansion. So far, Scott has not shared any scoop about just when the new bundle of joy will be arriving.

Scott Elrod’s fans are glad to hear that he is keeping busy with new projects that fans can follow both on-screen and off. The actor had a recurring role on the Anne Heche and James Tupper show Men in Trees a few years back, and he has had guest spots on other shows like NCIS: Los Angeles, Anger Management, Castle, and CSI: Miami over the years. Elrod’s fans will have to stay tuned for a bit yet to see if this Grey’s Anatomy gig leads to a regular role or not, but everybody is glad that he’s got something else on the way soon for viewers to check out.

Congratulations to Scott Elrod on his impending fatherhood and his Grey’s Anatomy gig! Fans of The Young and the Restless have seen the last of Joe Clark in Genoa City for now, but Elrod definitely isn’t sitting around pondering what to tackle next.
