Steve Harvey Video: Harvey’s Miss Universe 2015 Fail Video Gets 7 Million Views — Steve Says Sorry Backstage, Too [Video]

The below video, titled “Steve Harvey Announces The WRONG Winner of Miss Universe 2015,” has already surged to more than 1.5 million views on YouTube in the 11 hours since it was uploaded to YouTube. That’s because it shows Harvey announcing Miss Colombia as the winner of the Miss Universe 2015 contest. Steve accidentally announced the wrong winner, and Miss Colombia was actually crowned and everything.

Another video of the same event, titled “Miss Universe 2015 Winner Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo (Steve Harvey Epic FAIL),” has swelled to nearly five million views, likely with the contents of its description helping it along in the YouTube video rankings. As reported by CNN, the incorrect 2015 Miss Universe announcement by Harvey has gone viral.

Combined with the other videos, those two videos of Steve’s memorable snafu garner seven million views of the video event thus far.

As seen in the video from the Miss Universe 2015 contest, it is actually nearly a five-minute-and-28 second-long cringeworthy event. Miss Colombia has the Miss Universe 2015 crown on her head when Steve mounts the stage once more. Harvey announces that the winner was actually Miss Philippines — this is after Steve already inadvertently sent those in the crowd supporting Miss Colombia into a frenzy of celebration. Miss Colombia’s fans wave flags and celebrate for quite a seemingly long time in the video prior to Harvey coming back on stage.

With Steve being a well-known comedian, perhaps some Miss Universe 2015 fans wondered if Harvey was playing some sort of cruel joke. Alas, it wasn’t a joke, as proven by the way the video played out.

Searching for Steve Harvey videos on YouTube sorted by the ones with the most views as of this writing proves that videos like the above of Steve are already surging past popular videos of Harvey from years ago. Another video gaining views shows Harvey apologizing to Miss Philippines and calling her gorgeous. There’s yet to be a video that emerges of Steve apologizing backstage to Miss Colombia, however, she is seen in the below video — sans Harvey — saying that everything happens for a reason.

Published on December 20, the now-viral Harvey video has a description that explains the melee.

“The 2015 Miss Universe Pageant ends with arguably, the biggest TV fail of the year. Host Steve Harvey, instead of announcing Colombia as the first runner up, declares her as the winner and new Miss Universe. After several minutes, he returns to the stage to apologize and make things right. Awkwardness then ensues as some of the audience cheers while others boo and Miss Philippines comes down to accept her crown.”

On Twitter, some folks are coming to the defense of Steve and his mistake after viewing a photo of how strangely the Miss Universe 2015 card looked. Harvey’s mistake seemed less glaring in light of the way the card was written. Steve might have done a better job if the card had clearly had boxes or lines spelling a better demarcation of the winners and the runners-up in the Miss Universe 2015 contest.

On Twitter, in addition to all the tweets coming in related to Harvey’s name and mistake, the social media site reports related searches like “Steve Harvey video” and “Harvey memes” and “Steve Philippians” are being searched for along with his name.

Steve held up the card to the Miss Universe 2015 crowd after his mistake. Harvey says that the correct winner was not Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, but should have been Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Harvey made the mistake at the Miss Universe pageant Sunday, December 20 in Las Vegas, and afterward, YouTube videos of Steve’s snafu began surging in views online.
