Jinger Duggar And Jana Duggar: Is TLC Featuring Unmarried Sisters On ‘Counting On’ Because Of Future TV Special Possibility?
Jinger Duggar and Jana Duggar are playing surprisingly large roles on TLC’s three-part special, Jill & Jessa: Counting On. Based on the special’s title, you’d think that it would focus solely on Jill and Jessa. However, numerous members of the Duggar family appeared in the special’s premiere to share their feelings about Josh Duggar cheating on his wife of seven years, Anna Duggar. Jinger and Jana were among those who cried on camera while discussing their brother’s bad behavior, but Jinger got a bit more screen time than her siblings.
During the Jill & Jessa: Counting On premiere, Jinger Duggar got to share the spotlight with Jessa during a shopping trip to pick out a chair for baby Spurgeon’s nursery. Jinger also helped her sisters pick out gender-neutral baby clothes for Jessa’s unborn child. Previews for tonight’s Jill & Jessa: Counting On special prove that Jinger’s appearance was not a one-time deal – it looks like she and Jana are wholeheartedly embracing being back on TV along with Jessa and Jill.
According to the International Business Times, Jinger Duggar will have more to say about Josh Duggar’s cheating scandal during tonight’s episode of Jill & Jessa: Counting On. In a preview for the second part of the special, a cheerful Jinger praises Anna Duggar for sticking with her unfaithful husband.
“Anna is amazing,” an emotional Jinger says in the clip. “She displayed to each one of us to what it means to have unconditional love and she is walking through this better than anyone of us could have ever imagined.”
In a second Counting On preview posted by Us Weekly, Jinger Duggar is shown expressing her surprise that Jessa managed to win one the games that she devised for her baby shower. Married attendees were told to close their eyes, and they were then tasked with seeing how fast they could put a diaper on a doll. Jessa Duggar complained that her small doll was difficult to maneuver because it was a “micro-preemie,” but she still managed to emerge victorious.
“It is kind of a surprise that, out of all the ladies in this baby-diaper competition, the one who ended up winning did not have any children of her own — yet,” Jinger Duggar said of her sister’s skills.
Jana also made an appearance in the promo to share her thoughts on a baby food-making competition that male baby shower attendees got to take part in. She was less than impressed after she saw the guys try to create baby food out of pureed mixtures of baked beans, pickle juice, chips, and coffee.
“Most of the baby food that was made, I would not feed to a baby,” Jana says in the teaser clip. “I wouldn’t even eat it myself.”
It’s possible that TLC is featuring Jana Duggar and Jinger Duggar in so many talking head interviews on Counting On because the network is planning on cashing in on the unmarried Duggar daughters someday. By putting Jana and Jinger out there, TLC can gauge interest in the girls and determine whether one or both of them is worth another Duggar family special.
If one of the girls starts courting a Jim Bob-approved suitor, fans of the Duggar family would likely tune in to watch that girl’s relationship play out on TV. According to the Wrap, viewers were so interested in Jill Duggar’s courtship, engagement, and marriage that her wedding special scored record ratings for 19 Kids and Counting.
There are a few reasons why Duggar fans would likely be even more eager to watch 21-year-old Jinger and 25-year-old Jana find husbands. For one thing, both girls are more mysterious than Jessa and Jill because they don’t have social media pages that they use to keep fans updated. Both adult daughters still live at home and don’t have jobs, so fans are likely curious about what they do when they’re not playing sister mom to their younger siblings.
Jana’s courtship would be a really big deal to Duggar lovers because she’s the oldest Duggar daughter – this means that fans have been waiting for her to get hitched for a long time. TLC might also be interested in a special centered on Jana and/or Jinger because they don’t come with the baggage that Jill and Jessa are saddled with – Jana and Jinger haven’t been accused of scamming fans out of money by asking for gift cards or treating mission trips like vacations. Jinger and Jana also didn’t take part in the Megyn Kelly interview about Josh Duggar’s sexual molestation scandal, so they haven’t defended their brother’s bad behavior as much as Jill and Jessa have.
