In his heyday, one of wrestling superstar Ric Flair’s signature catchphrases was “to be the man, you have to beat the man.” But what if the “beater” is a woman?
In a possible “rematch” as it were, Flair, the 16-time professional wrestling World’s Heavyweight Champion, and his wife apparently got into in a domestic dispute on Monday night at their home in North Carolina.
The Charlotte Observer reports that “Police say at around 9:40 p.m. Flair’s wife, Jacqueline Bains Beems, assaulted the former professional wrestling champion.” The alleged incident occurred in the couple’s condo in Charlotte after Flair called 911. No arrests were made, however.
Beems, Flair’s fourth wife, was arrested in 2010 in a similar incident, but charges were later dropped.
The flamboyant “Nature Boy,” who is now 63, is considered perhaps the greatest pro wrestler ever, and is still active even though he is well past his prime.
Flair (real name Richard Morgan Fliehr) has had his share of other legal issues outside of the ring over the years. According to Bleacher Report,
It has been a hectic time for Flair, as of late. He acrimoniously parted ways with TNA last month with speculation running rampant that he was heading back to WWE. He is also heavily mentioned in TNA’s current lawsuit against WWE for issues related to contract tampering, something that could serve as a major obstacle in any potential WWE return.
