Elizabeth Olsen Allegedly Dumped Boyd Holbrook The Day His Best Friend Died

Narcos star Boyd Holbrook has finally felt able to open up about his break up with actress Elizabeth Olsen. The couple called it quits last fall, and, according to Boyd, the split was neither mutual nor done with the least compassion. As the Narcos actor describes it, the entire incident leaves Olsen sounding heartless.

Holbrook says that he had been romantically involved with Olsen for more than three years and that the couple had been engaged, so it may not be surprising to learn that Boyd felt like the break-up was more like a real divorce. Holbrook says that the worst part of his split from Elizabeth was the day that she chose to do it. He had just received word that his best friend, photographer David Armstrong, had died, when Elizabeth called to end their relationship.

As everything came crashing down on him that day, Holbrook says that he was consumed by depression. Recalling that Armstrong was the first person to encourage him, Boyd moved past his split from Elizabeth Olsen and from David’s passing by letting his work take center stage, reports People magazine.

“I was consumed with own personal depression, my own personal scenario at the time,” he recalls. “What happened over the course of the journey is that I started noticing the different types of trees. I started noticing the beauty, the details.”

While Holbrook was allowing the beauty of nature to work its healing power on his broken heart, Olsen has since moved on with her own life. Elizabeth was romantically linked to her I Saw the Light co-star, but reports indicate that Olsen has had trouble with Hiddleston as well.

When Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen connected on the set of I Saw the Light, it seemed Olsen had found a new love interest to take the place of Boyd Holbrook. Even as rumors began to circulate, however, Olsen was quick to deny any romantic involvement.

“I mean, we definitely are friends and we’ve known each other for about four years. And we happened to be at a restaurant at a wrong time having dinner.”

In spite of Elizabeth’s statement, there seemed to be no denying that there was something between Tom and herself. In fact, it was this reluctance to go public that was the apparent cause of friction between Hiddleston and Olsen. Understandably, Tom wanted a girlfriend that wasn’t ashamed to be seen publicly with him for whatever reason.

In truth, sources close to Olsen report that the actress is more focused on her career than on her love life. It was this ambition that played a major role in Elizabeth’s split from Holbrook as well.

As it turns out, both Tom Hiddleston and Boyd Holbrook fell victim to Olsen’s career. Elizabeth’s reluctance to commit to a serious relationship has already impacted two lives, so it seems the actress may want to reevaluate how she approaches her interpersonal relationships in the future to avoid further misunderstandings.

Ms. Olsen most recently appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. She is reprising that role for Captain America: Civil War, which is slated for an April 27, 2016 theatrical release.

Tom Hiddleston is scheduled to reprise the role of Loki in Thor: Ragnarok, due out in 2017. Hiddleston also appeared in the recent gothic drama Crimson Peak.

In addition to Narcos, Boyd Holbrook will also be starring in the Jason Lew drama The Free World, which will see a late 2016 release.
