Lamar Odom Health Update: Condition Improving, NBA Player To Be Relocated To Calabasas Rehab

As of Sunday, Lamar Odom will have been under medical care for a total of two months.

On October 13, Lamar Odom was discovered unconscious at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch, a legal brothel located in Pahrump, Nevada, where the former NBA star had been partying for days with a number of the facility’s working women. Immediately, Lamar Odom was rushed to a nearby hospital, and then to a second, the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where he remained in a coma for three days. After waking up from his coma days later, Lamar Odom was transferred to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he has been ever since.

Throughout Lamar Odom’s medical crisis, his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, who filed for divorce in December, 2013, amid rumors of drug use and infidelity, has been at his side, supporting the former athlete as he continues to recover from a drug overdose.

After his hospitalization in October, things weren’t looking good for Lamar Odom. In addition to suffering from organ failure, he also allegedly sustained excessive brain damage, and according to TMZ, was unable to recognize friends and family members that had come to visit him in the hospital.

“[Lamar Odom] has made some progress, but his cognitive impairment is making life very challenging,” an insider told People Magazine regarding Lamar Odom’s status.

The magazine’s source also claimed Lamar Odom was unable to walk without assistance, and said he could barely speak. In addition, his future prognosis was extremely dire, with the source revealing he’d need full-time care even after leaving the hospital.

“[Lamar Odom] won’t likely leave the hospital for a long time, and when he does, he will need full time care. He can’t take care of himself.”

Then, after many reports of bad news for Lamar Odom, an insider spoke up, revealing a hospital exit would be coming soon.

“[Lamar Odom] actually gets a little better every day,” an insider told Us Weekly on December 10. “He talks a bit more each day and walks with a walker, but still has trouble processing his thoughts. It’s very slow but little by little.”

Soon, claimed the source, without giving a date or estimated time frame, Lamar Odom will be moved out of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and into a rehab facility offsite. And although the name of the facility was not given, the source claimed it would be located near the home of Khloe Kardashian in Calabasas, California.

As Lamar Odom remains under medical care, he continues to receive visits from Kardashian and her family, including her sisters Khloe, Kim, and Kylie Jenner, as well as her mother, Kris Jenner, and his brother-in-law, Kanye West, who recently visited Lamar Odom after welcoming his second child with Kim, Saint West, at the same hospital.

“Kanye came by [Lamar Odom]’s room when he was at Cedars to play him a new song. Khloe brought him down to visit, and Kanye was nice.”

Lamar Odom has also seen his ex-girlfriend, Liza Morales, and their two children, Destiny and Lamar Odom, Jr., since being hospitalized in October. However, due to their school schedule in New York, they are unable to remain at his side.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians season 11 airs on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on the E! Network. Although Lamar Odom has not yet been seen on the series, he has been a hot topic of discussion for Khloe and her sisters.
