Rumors Swirl Surrounding Ariana Grande’s Odd Appearance, Is Botched Plastic Surgery To Blame?

Plastic surgery isn’t just a last resort for aging celebrities bent on a final victory lap. Since such procedures are so commonplace for top-tier entertainers, it is not inconceivable that a young, picturesque diva like Ariana Grande might go under the knife for a selective nip and tuck. Musings to that effect have manifested before, and now — with the abrupt cancellation of concerts and an apparent change in her appearance in some recent photos — star watchers are again speculating that the award-winning singer is dabbling in some cosmetic modifications.

Rumors kicked into high gear about two weeks ago when the 22-year-old singer and actress canceled the international dates for her “Honeymoon” tour without warning. As reported by Radio.com, Grande broke the news to her fans via Twitter, just days prior to scheduled shows in Abu Dhabi, London, and Japan.

For what it is worth, cancellations happen as a matter of course in the entertainment industry. Placing Grande’s batch of nixed gigs in context, antiMusic noted that Ariana Grande previously canceled a number of shows in her current tour for ostensibly verified reasons. The site indicated that Grande backed out of three shows in the United States due to scheduling issues as well as an additional appearance over the summer when she had her wisdom teeth removed.

This time around, some new photos are raising eyebrows and suspicion that Ariana Grande might have needed some time off due to some difficulty following a round of plastic surgery. The entertainment website Celebrity Dirty Laundry posted a gallery of photos taken on December 10 in which Ariana Grande was spotted taking her dog out on a shopping trip while clad in a one-piece pajama suit. The Daily Mail referred to her ensemble – rounded out by a large, white blanket and Ugg boots – as a “just rolled out of bed look. As noted by Celebrity Dirty Laundry and other outlets, Grande’s face appears unusually stiff and tight in the photos. The photos circulated far and wide via gossip sites and and social media.

To be sure, Ariana Grande’s changing appearance has been chronicled well before the current bout of speculation. In April, Life and Style Weekly published a nine-photo gallery chronicling Grande’s evolving countenance since 2008. U.K.-based news source The Mirror compiled a similar series of Grade-themed images. Celebrity gossip czar Perez Hilton has also hinted at the likelihood that Grande has had some work done on her nose, among other things.

Ariana Grande’s facial features aren’t the sole focal point of star watchers, though. Grande sometimes draws criticism for her exceptionally slim body, and she once hit back against a detractor on social media who chided, “Curves are sexy. Sticks aren’t.”

E! Online reported that Grande hit back with an epic comment slamming such practices as misogyny, body shaming and objectification, and encouraged fans to love themselves.

It’s been a weird year for Ariana Grande, including her infamous #Donutgate gaffe, in which she was seen licking donuts at a bakery and complaining that she hates America. Ticket sales for her summer tour slumped and she also endured a public breakup with boyfriend Big Sean. Grande also enjoyed some noteworthy achievements in 2015, including winning an iHeartRadio award, a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award. Ariana Grande also received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo for the song “Bang Bang,” which she performed with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj.
