Insider Says ‘The Voice’ Ratings Could Keep Gwen Stefani Around Another Season Instead Of Christina Aguilera

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s new love story is one that everyone is enjoying watching on The Voice. Radar Online shared the news that things are going so well that it could be enough to keep Gwen around for another season of the show. Normally, Gwen alternates seasons with Christina Aguilera, but sources say they may not do that for the upcoming season. The new episode last week had 12.56 million viewers, and that was a big increase over the week before. It sounds like the Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani romance is the reason that the ratings are up.

An insider with the show explained that Blake and Gwen are keeping things steamy, and viewers are coming back so that they can see how things are going for them. With it being a live show, viewers never know what will happen between Gwen and Blake, and they do not want to miss it. The source went on to explain that they may want to keep Gwen around another season.

“The executives already want to keep Gwen for next season and keep the cast as is. The way things are going right now, there is no reason to sub her out for Christina.”

TV Line already shared that Christina Aguilera would be back again next season in place of Gwen Stefani. Starting in February 2016, The Voice has already planned the four judges, and they will be Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine, and Christina Aguilera. It would be really hard to get out of this contract now since they have already shared it with the world. There is always a chance that they could try to use five coaches and have Gwen Stefani stick around as well.

They used to switch out the other coach as well, but this will now be four seasons in a row for Pharrell Williams. Gwen Stefani is normally there only every other season. Now that she is dating Blake Shelton, they know it would be smart to keep her around, but it could be too late to find a way for Gwen to stick around. NBC’s president of late night and alternative programming, Paul Telegdy, released a statement about the upcoming season.

“The coaches on The Voice continue to bring incredible energy, unrivaled musical expertise and a want-to-win attitude that makes for the perfect ingredients of a two-time Emmy-winning show. We can’t wait to see what season 10 will bring.”

Now that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are dating it would make perfect sense for them to keep Gwen around. This would be hard to do though considering it has already been announced Christina is sticking around. Maybe instead they can just squeeze Gwen into the show somehow as a mentor for Blake’s team or something similar. There are a few ways that they can keep Gwen Stefani around so viewers can see her romance with Blake Shelton.

In Touch Weekly recently shared that Blake Shelton doesn’t have any plans to leave The Voice if Gwen Stefani doesn’t stick around. Blake says that if he was to ever leave, then he probably wouldn’t come back. There is no reason to take a season off and then return. Blake said if the idea ever comes up of him taking a season off, then he will just be done with the show totally.
