Gwen Stefani’s ‘Used To Love You’: Blake Shelton Reacts To Breakup Song

Gwen Stefani released “Used To Love You” earlier this month, and according to a new report, her boyfriend, Blake Shelton, is a fan of the new single. While speaking to Extra TV on December 1, Shelton, who appears as a judge alongside Gwen Stefani on The Voice, spoke out about the single, which Gwen Stefani performed just two nights ago on their NBC series.

“When [Gwen Stefani] wrote the song she was like, ‘My gosh, I put exactly what I wanted to say into a song,'” Shelton revealed of the track.

Prior to the release of her single, Gwen Stefani reportedly went through a heartbreaking betrayal. As Us Weekly revealed last month, Gwen Stefani’s former husband, Gavin Rossdale, was accused of sleeping with their former nanny, Mindy Mann, for three of the 13 years they were married. According to the magazine’s report, Gwen Stefani’s husband was believed to have been caught flirting with the nanny in a number of shocking messages on the family’s iPad, which included details regarding a meeting for sex and nude photos of Mann. Although Rossdale initially denied the affair accusations, Mann was immediately fired, and months later, Gwen Stefani filed for divorce.

Since her split from Rossdale, Gwen Stefani has been focused on her three kids and her career, and weeks ago, she and Shelton went public with their romance.

Continuing on to Extra TV about “Used To Love You,” Shelton, who split from wife Miranda Lambert one month prior to Gwen Stefani’s divorce announcement, explained that it’s often quite challenging to relay one’s exact emotion into a song.

“Sometimes it’s hard to put it exactly how you want to say it when it’s that personal to you, and so [Gwen Stefani] was so excited that she got that out, and then it ends up being this smash song that it’s turning into… She deserves it. If you go through whatever she went through to write that song, at least she’s getting something good, positive out of it.”

As for the “whatever she went through,” Gwen Stefani has yet to publicly confirm her ex-husband’s alleged affair with Mann, and Rossdale has stayed silent, as well. Also in the interview, Shelton spoke of his Thanksgiving day festivities. As Gwen Stefani celebrated the holiday in Los Angeles with her children, Shelton was in Oklahoma, where he attempted to cook the perfect meal.

“I put a, I think it was an 18-pound turkey on, I have one of those Traeger grills, it’s a smoker, I put it on there at like eight o’clock at night with the intention of before I went to bed taking it off the smoker and then the turkey being done. I woke up the next morning, I walked out on my porch to urinate, because that’s what you do in the country is you pee off the porch, and I walked out there and was like, ‘What is that sound?’ I realized the turkey had been on the smoker all night.”

Gwen Stefani and Shelton were linked romantically for weeks leading up to their romance debut in early November, which took place in Nashville just hours after Shelton and his ex-wife, Lambert, attended the Country Music Awards.

As Gwen Stefani and Shelton continue to date, their on-air PDA on The Voice continues to increase, which has been exciting for the show’s many viewers.
