Leo DiCaprio Bear Rape Scene In ‘The Revenant’ Movie: 2 Moviegoers Says ‘Thrusting’ Was Shown, Not Rape [Video]

For those who’ve seen the shocking trailer to the movie The Revenant starring Leo DiCaprio, they know the movie contains a harrowing scene wherein a bear attacks DiCaprio’s bearded character. On the homepage of the Drudge Report, the website features a shocking headline prominently, claiming Leo’s character was raped by a bear, twice. The movie is based on the book, The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge, by Michael Punke.

Although TheRevenant is a novel — and therefore fiction — it is based on Hugh Glass, a real frontiersman from the 19th century. The book makes no mention of a rape, although it does have a run-in with a bear.

The new report claiming that Leo’s character was raped by the bear has grown so popular that Alexa.com shows the article titled “DICAPRIO RAPED BY BEAR IN FOX MOVIE” in the fifth most popular website position. Published on Tuesday, December 1, at 11:01 a.m. ET, the article took the internet by storm. The website claimed that the scene represented a new low in levels of violence in films. Seeing Leo’s on-screen character get raped by a bear supposedly sent some folks running for the exits when TheRevenant was screened, reports the publication.

“The new movie ‘REVENANT’ features a shocking scene of a wild bear raping Leo DiCaprio! The explicit moment from Oscar winning director Alejandro Inarritu has caused maximum controversy in early screenings. Some in the audience escaped to the exits when the Wolf of Wall Street met the Grizzly of Yellowstone.”

“The story of rural survivalism and revenge reaches new violent levels for a mainstream film. The bear flips Leo over and thrusts and thrusts during the explicit mauling.”

“He is raped — twice!”

“Not to be outdone, DiCaprio rips open a horse and sleeps naked in its carcass! For director Inarritu, ‘BIRDMAN’ was just the appetizer. FOX has given the movie an award-qualifying release on Christmas Day. Developing…”

However, according to the Daily Mail, the studio behind the film starring Leonardo is calling bluff on the raped-by-a-bear stories featuring DiCaprio’s on-screen character. Fox has said there is not a rape scene with the bear. Both in real life and in the book, Glass faced down a female bear in 1823, as the bear defended her two baby cubs.

Journalists are currently not supposed to publish reviews of the movie, meaning they’ve been “embargoed” until the reviews are allowed to be published. It isn’t known how the Drudge Report obtained their claims that the rape scene with the bear came about. Either way, TheRevenant might finally bring DiCaprio his first Oscar, after having been nominated for an Academy Award five times.

DiCaprio’s Hugh Glass character may have appeared to have been raped in the movie, because the Daily Mail reports two other people who’ve seen the film that say there is thrusting by the bear. However, that thrusting doesn’t necessarily equal rape — and therefore, different audience members may have interpreted the bear scene as a rape scene.

In the trailer for The Revenant, the bear comes out of nowhere to attack DiCaprio’s character in the woods. It’s an amazing scene where Leo’s on-screen persona goes toe-to-paw with the bear and apparently survives. The Revenant trailer also shows Leo’s character fighting death after being buried alive. With all the controversy surrounding the bear scene that may or may not have involved rape, The Revenant will likely gain plenty of views when it finally hits theaters. And Leo might eventually bring home that gold statue as a result of all of his wide body of acting work over the years.
