‘Spider-Man’ Reboot To Star Iron Man And Captain America? [Rumor]

The release of the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War earlier this week immediately got people excited that they might get their first look at Marvel’s Spider-Man. That didn’t prove to be the case. But news regarding the upcoming reboot for Peter Parker has now been teased, with allegations that Captain America and Iron Man are going to feature in the latest origin story for Peter Parker.

This speculation originally started over at ComicBook.com, with the website using quotes from Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.’s interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night to start them.

During the actors’ discussions with the host, Chris Evans made a few comments and jokes about just how hot it was working in Atlanta. This provoked Robert Downey Jr. to remark, “By the way, we are going to shoot in Atlanta again, you and I.” This led Evans to not only agree, but to admit, “I know, I’m ready, I’m ready.”

Now, of course, these comments could just have been made in jest, as Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans exchanged banter while they were on the chat show. Or Robert Downey Jr. could have just inadvertently revealed that their characters, Captain America and Iron Man, will be once again starring together in another future Marvel adventure.

Looking at future Marvel films, the only other addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe that is confirmed to be shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, is Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. The studio have already confirmed that both Doctor Strange and Thor: Ragnarok will be shot in Nepal & the UK and Australia, respectively.

Does that mean that either or both of Iron Man or Captain America is now due to appear in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2? That’s very unlikely, since James Gunn has already confirmed to press that Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man won’t be starring in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2.

Plus Gunn, who was the writer and the director of the Guardians Of The Galaxy, has already come out and confirmed that he wants Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill to be the sole human hero in the GOTG films for the time being. So, that pretty much rules out the appearance of both of these superheroes.

But what about Spider-Man? While Marvel are yet to actually reveal where the latest origin story for the new Peter Parker film will be filmed, actor Tom Holland, who will be portraying the titular superhero in Spider-Man, did just state that earlier this month while out promoting In The Heart Of The Sea, confirming that Jon Watts and Marvel will be shooting in Atlanta during 2016.

Marvel’s deal with Sony means that not only is Spider-Man allowed to appear in Marvel films, but Marvel characters are allowed to feature in the Sony-produced origin story, too.

In all honesty though, it’s more likely that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans were actually talking about filming Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2. While the filming locations for these films hasn’t actually been confirmed yet, there’s a good chance that it will take place in Atlanta.

Both of these films aren’t due out into cinemas until May 4, 2018, and May 3, 2019, respectively, which means that production on them is due to begin at some point in 2017. That means that Chris Evans will have around two years to prepare himself for the heat in the Georgian city.
