NeNe Leakes Talks Friendships With Sheree Whitfield And Cynthia Bailey

NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey have made it clear via their social media accounts that they’re friends again. But, have they completely forgiven one another and are they as close as they used to be? In an interview with The Daily Dish, posted on Friday, NeNe talked about how things are now with Cynthia. NeNe also talked about Sheree Whitfield, who is back on The Real Housewives of Atlanta this season after being away for several years.

Last week, NeNe shared a photo of herself and Cynthia hanging out in New York City. The photo shows the two women leaning in close to one another and smiling wide.

Cynthia, in response, congratulated NeNe on her Broadway work. NeNe is currently starring as Matron “Mama” Morton in the Broadway musical, Chicago, on stage in Chicago.

NeNe included the hashtag “#workinprogress” in her tweet, making it clear that she and Cynthia are working on their friendship. In her interview with The Daily Dish, NeNe admitted that she and Cynthia are on “a long road of recovery.” NeNe said that instead of walking away, which is what she used to do when a friendship went south, she decided to work it out with Cynthia. NeNe did not specify what it is about her friendship with Cynthia that propelled her to do things differently this time.

“It was really great to hang out with Cynthia. And, again, we’re still a work in progress. It’s been a long road of recovery for us. This is something very different for me. Generally when I have a friendship that’s has gone south, I used to leave it in the South [but we were] in the North hanging out [and] trying to work it out. And I generally don’t work it out. I usually just close the door and keep it moving… Again, like I said, I’m a work in progress and this whole relationship that we gave is a work in progress. We’re having a good time though.”

Cynthia Bailey wasn’t the only one from The Real Housewives of Atlanta to show NeNe Leakes some support. Sheree Whitfield also tweeted NeNe to say how proud she is of her. NeNe retweeted Sheree’s tweet and thanked her for it.

NeNe told The Daily Dish that she’s happy to have Sheree’s support.

“I think it’s great. I’m really happy that Sheree showed some love. We hadn’t seen each other in years, actually, until I recently saw her about a month ago, maybe. So we hadn’t seen each other in a really long time. I was really happy that she’s showing some love and support, and Cynthia.”

Both Sheree and NeNe were on the very first season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta together. They continued to star on the show together for the next three seasons. After Season 4, Sheree left, while NeNe continued on with the show as a starring housewife. In June, NeNe announced that she was leaving the show to pursue other opportunities.

With NeNe’s departure came Sheree’s return. Sheree can be seen on the current eighth season as a recurring housewife. Yet NeNe will still be seen later on in the season as a guest. As the Inquisitr reported in late October, NeNe showed up to the cast’s Jamaica trip to film a few scenes with them.

On Saturday, Sheree tweeted her support for Cynthia’s eyewear line.

Perhaps viewers will see NeNe Leakes, Sheree Whitfield and Cynthia Bailey having some fun bonding time together in Jamaica?
