Katy Perry Releases H&M Holiday Commercial With The Guy From Taylor Swift’s ‘Blank Space’
Katy Perry has been getting into the holiday spirit lately. Shortly after her Prismatic World Tour ended, the singer released her very first holiday song. Now Katy’s new song is getting its own video, courtesy of H&M.
Katy Perry transformed herself into a prismatic fairy for the debut of her new video “Every Day is a Holiday.” In the two-minute commercial, there are holiday-themed characters everywhere in the video. It’s hard to keep track of all of the sugar plum fairies, nutcrackers, and gingerbread that dance around.
In other parts of the video, Katy wears a red dress, a nutcracker uniform, and a big red bow. This isn’t the singer’s first holiday collaboration with a retailer. Earlier this month, she released a holiday-themed onesie collection with Beloved. Over the summer, there have been rumors that Katy has plans to release a Christmas album soon. That would explain her sudden interest in banking on the holiday season.
On August 10, Katy shared an Instagram video of a costumed foursome sitting in the recording studio as they listened to a song. She captioned the clip: “When your derp squad writes a Christmas song in August.” That made rumors swirl that Katy plans to release her own Christmas album, a la Mariah Carey. The singer has experience with singing Christmas songs. There are videos of Katy singing her versions of “White Christmas,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Santa Baby,” and countless other classics on YouTube. Katy herself hasn’t confirmed the rumors, but it wouldn’t be surprising if she dropped a Christmas album soon.
There’s also a handsome male model that’s wearing a Santa hat and holding and adorable pile of kittens. At one point in Perry’s new video, he’s shirtless. But there’s also something familiar about that model. That’s because it’s the same guy from Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” video, as some fans have pointed out.Need some proof? Katy Perry reportedly stole one or two of Taylor Swift’s backup dancers in the middle of their world tours. According to Swift’s interview with Rolling Stone magazine, that’s about the time that their “Bad Blood” feud began. And that’s not all. Swift also recalled Perry’s mean girl behavior in the infamous interview.
“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ “
Once the article hit the internet and newsstands, speculation landed on Katy Perry, who mysteriously tweeted, “Watch Out For the Regina George in sheep’s clothing.” What also made their rumor worse is the fact that Katy started dating Taylor’s ex-boyfriend, John Mayer, in 2012. Taylor and John had a brief romance in 2010 before he reportedly dumped her, and she later released the song “Dear John.”
According to Page Six, their feud started over the musician, but Swift insist that their feud wasn’t “over a guy.” She also wasn’t coy when she said that she no longer gets along with Ms. Perry.“Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies. And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me… I don’t think there would be any personal problem if she weren’t competitive.”
Now, fans are wondering if Taylor Swift will respond to the new of Katy Perry’s H&M video. She may not call her out on social media, but she may write another song about it. Bad Blood 2.0, anyone?
By the way, Taylor’s “Blank Space” video recently broke a record since it reached one billion views on Vevo. Some of Taylor’s fans would say it’s the best video out of her 1989 era, besides “Bad Blood,” of course.
